Angry Abortion Activists Vandalize Catholic Church After Texas Bans Abortion

A Catholic Church in Louisville, Colorado was vandalized with pro-abortion graffiti early Sunday morning, potentially in response to the new Texas heartbeat law.

The vandalism included defacing a church sign, sanctuary entry doors, a garden sign and the walls of the St. Louis Catholic Church, according to local police.

The Louisville Police Department believes three individuals caught on a security camera may be responsible for the vandalism. FOX 31 posted the security video on its website.

According to the Washington Times, people noticed the graffiti Sunday morning as they were arriving for Mass.

The vandals spray-painted pro-abortion talking points including “My body my choice” and “Bans off our bodies” on the church building and property, according to the report. They also spray-painted over a “Respect Life” garden stone with the words “Respect bodily autonomy,” according to photos provided by police.

“The actions of these individuals are not representative of the residents of Louisville, nor do they reflect the mission of our city,” Police Chief Dave Hayes said in a statement. “The true representation of the community in Louisville are those that surrounded St. Louis Catholic Church and helped remove the graffiti Sunday after Mass.”

Police estimated that the vandalism occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. They asked anyone with information to call police at 303-441-4444.

Police described the incident as “bias motivated criminal mischief.” It potentially could be linked to the wide-spread news coverage of the new Texas heartbeat law, which went into effect last week. Texas is the first state to be allowed to enforce a heartbeat law, and the legislation potentially could save tens of thousands of babies from abortion every year.

However, vandalism and other hostilities against pro-life advocates are growing.

Here’s more from the Washington Times:

The attack in Louisville, an upscale suburb of about 20,000, follows a national spike in vandalism and criminal mischief against Catholic churches, murals and statuary that began last summer amid the George Floyd protests.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which keeps a tally of the incidents, reported as of Aug. 24 at least 93 incidents in 28 states since May 2020, including “arson, statues beheaded, limbs cut, smashed, and painted, gravestones defaced with swastikas and anti-Catholic language and American flags next to them burned.”

LifeNews.com also recorded about 200 similar incidents against pro-lifers in the past three years, including a bomb threat during a 40 Days for Life event in Minnesota, the brutal attack of an older pro-life man outside an abortion facility in San Francisco, a pro-life banner set on fire inside a Western Washington University building, and a man charged with pulling a gun on pro-lifers outside a Delaware abortion facility.
