I Was a Reporter for a Liberal Media Outlet, Now I’m a Pro-Life Activist

I can remember it as if it were yesterday. I was attending an Irish dancing festival in the Catskills, cherishing my time away from the daily grind of secular journalism. A clergyman interrupted my frivolity with an important sermon. He felt called to address the congregants with a pro-life message. He decried the brutality of abortion and left me on the verge of tears.

I knew, in that moment, that I needed to do more to defend the lives of innocent preborn babies. There is a time for dancing, and there is a time for mourning. I realized that I had to grieve the loss of so many precious children to abortion, and vowed that I would do everything I possibly could to stop the slaughter from continuing.

Perhaps your call to the pro-life movement was not so dramatic—or maybe it was even more earthshaking. Whatever led you to the movement, I want to thank you profusely on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.

With every pro-life social media message you post…every call you make to your Congressional representative…every diaper drive you participate in…you are rebuilding a culture of life. It is that culture that will protect preborn babies and their mothers from harm…bring comfort to those who have been hurt by abortion…and restore the right to life to its rightful place in public life.

I stand in awe of the many pro-life advocates I have met from throughout the country. They have fortified my courage and resolve. They have strengthened and fine-tuned my arguments in defense of life. They have made me a better, more compassionate person.

I would like to take time to salute your work, whether it is in a National Right to Life affiliate, in a local chapter, in a pregnancy care center, or in a post-abortive support group. You are making a profound difference in the life of your community—and saving lives in the process.

So never lose heart! Press on, knowing the good you are doing, the hearts you are changing, and the love you are sharing. You are a pro-life patriot, and I commend you for your service!
