Republicans and Democrats, pro-life advocates and many others have been demanding for months that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo resign after his own attorney general accused him of hiding COVID-19 nursing home deaths and sexually harassing multiple women.

Now, the Planned Parenthood abortion chain finally has joined the throng.

Breitbart reports Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York issued a statement Wednesday condemning Cuomo’s actions and calling for him to resign immediately.

The pro-abortion group said it is “outraged and appalled” by the new report from New York Attorney General Letitia James accusing Cuomo of sexually harassing multiple women.

The governor, a pro-abortion Democrat, has denied all wrongdoing and refused to resign.

“The governor was extremely inappropriate in his attempt to use survivors’ stories and experiences to discredit the allegations against him,” said Robin Chappelle Golston, CEO of Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts. “This demonstrates a fundamental lack of empathy and understanding that his actions were wrong. Every person deserves the opportunity to have their story be respectfully heard, and to work in an environment free of harassment or retaliation. We honor the bravery and courage of those who have come forward.”

Breitbart noted that Golston and other Planned Parenthood leaders have lavished praise on Cuomo in the past. In 2018, Golston’s affiliate endorsed Cuomo for re-election, describing him as an “experienced leader who will fight to protect New Yorkers … on our rights and values.”

In 2019, the abortion chain also praised Cuomo after he signed a law allowing late-term abortions and then lit up state landmarks in pink to celebrate.

“This. Is. Huge. Gov. Cuomo JUST signed the Reproductive Health Act into law — a big win towards securing safe, legal abortion & access to contraception for all!” Planned Parenthood wrote at the time. “Can’t wait to see other states follow New York’s lead to protect our health and rights.”

Calls for Cuomo’s resignation have been growing for months, especially after his mishandling of the coronavirus. Planned Parenthood, until now, has been notably absent from those calls.

At the beginning of the year, Cuomo and his administration were accused of covering up thousands of elderly people’s deaths in nursing homes connected to his pandemic orders. Approximately 15,000 elderly New Yorkers have died since last spring.

In March, an explosive New York Times report exposed how several of Cuomo’s top aides helped to hide approximately 9,000 people’s deaths to COVID in nursing homes last year. At the same time, the Democrat governor was receiving massive media praise for his handling of the pandemic and getting ready to profit from his new book, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Originally, New York reported 8,110 deaths at nursing homes due to the coronavirus. However, the state tally only included people who died at a facility. Nursing home residents who were transferred to hospitals and died there were not included in the total.  According to the attorney general’s report in January, the actual total was 12,743.

President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also urged Cuomo to resign earlier this week.
