Massive amounts of taxpayer dollars are still being sent to the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood, according to a new Government Accountability Office report.
From 2016 to 2018 alone, 39 Planned Parenthood affiliates received $271 million in federal grants for “family planning” services, including $88 million in 2016, $93 million in 2017 and $89 million in 2018, the Daily Wire reports.
That total does not include the $1.3 billion in state and federal Medicaid reimbursements that Planned Parenthood affiliates received during that same time period, according to the report.
Most of the non-Medicaid money came from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Population Affairs for family planning services, the Government Accountability Office found.
Within that time period, President Donald Trump’s administration took action to cut off several of Planned Parenthood’s streams of taxpayer funding. However, Planned Parenthood sued to block the cuts.

The Trump administration did succeed in defunding Planned Parenthood from the Title X program, from which it received about $60 million a year, but only after a lengthy court battle, one that still is not completely over. Additionally, some pro-abortion governors made up for a portion of the cuts by giving their own state taxpayers’ money to the abortion chain instead.
The Biden administration is working to overturn the Trump administration’s action and allow Planned Parenthood to receive Title X funding again.
Internationally, U.S. taxpayers also were forced to give money to abortion groups that promote the killing of unborn babies in abortions between 2016 and 2018.
This included $15 million to the International Planned Parenthood Federation and $60 million to the British-based abortion chain Marie Stopes International (now MSI Reproductive Choices) through the USAID, the Daily Wire reports.
In the United States, Planned Parenthood has 49 affiliates and more than 600 facilities across the U.S., according to the Government Accountability Office.
Planned Parenthood aborts more unborn babies than any other group in the U.S. Its latest annual report, which is publicly available online, shows more than 354,000 abortions, about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S.
Meanwhile, the same report shows that many of Planned Parenthood’s actual health services continue to decline. It provided less contraception, sterilizations, cancer screenings, adoption referrals and other women’s health services than the previous year, mirroring a continued downward trend. Its patient numbers also have been dropping steadily over the past decade.
Planned Parenthood has been accused repeatedly of unethical and illegal activities, including selling aborted baby body parts, botching abortions that killed women, covering up the sexual abuse of minors, discriminating against pregnant and racial minority employees, exploiting young girls by selling cross-sex hormones and more.
