Today, the Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act, HB 578 by Rep. Beryl Amedee, passed the Louisiana House of Representatives by a 71-27-7 margin.

HB 578 provides critical information to women choosing a chemical abortion about the possibility that the effects of their abortion could be reversed and the life of their unborn child saved. To date, over 2,000 babies have been born across the nation thanks to the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol.

State Representative Beryl Amedee said after the passage of the bill, “This bill will save lives. Women do regret their abortion decision, and my Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act gives these women a chance to save their baby through a proven medical protocol. Over 2,000 babies across America have been saved through the Abortion Pill Reversal Protocol, including many in Louisiana. I can’t wait until this bill becomes law so women can make informed decisions regarding their options.”

Executive Director, Benjamin Clapper, also said following the passage: “I applaud the 71 legislators and Rep. Beryl Amedee that stood for life today with their vote for the Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act. Expert doctors in Louisiana are already saving lives through the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol, including twins born recently in Baton Rouge. This bill will ensure that every woman choosing a chemical abortion in Louisiana will have information about this life-saving protocol.”

Dr. Bennie Nobles of Metairie provided the following statement in support of HB 578: “I have been an OBGYN for over 40 years. This abortion pill reversal protocol quite literally gives women a second chance. I have personally walked with women through this reversal process. And it has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever been a part of. Here’s an example of a successful reversal: The patient had a change of heart. There was an incredible opportunity to give her the reversal treatment she needed in order to save the life of her child and save her from a lifetime of regret. She now has a healthy baby. I fully support this protocol and I have personally seen it work to save lives.”
