Joe Biden Mentions Racial Justice, Climate Change in “National Day of Prayer” Message. But Not God

Joe Biden is hardly a “devout” or “faithful” Catholic because he is such a pro-abortion radical, but apparently even mentioning God or Jesus on the national Day of Prayer is too much for him.

In his message to the American people today, Biden couldn’t even bring himself to name the Creater of the Universe to whom millions of Americans are praying today. Instead, Biden used his National Day of Prayer proclamation to say the the day is one in which “Americans of faith can call upon the power of prayer” as they confront “racial justice” and “the existential threat of climate change.”

Biden said:

As we continue to confront the crises and challenges of our time — from a deadly pandemic, to the loss of lives and livelihoods in its wake, to a reckoning on racial justice, to the existential threat of climate change — Americans of faith can call upon the power of prayer to provide hope and uplift us for the work ahead.

As the late Congressman John Lewis once said, “Nothing can stop the power of a committed and determined people to make a difference in our society.  Why? Because human beings are the most dynamic link to the divine on this planet.”

Throughout our history, Americans of many religions and belief systems have turned to prayer for strength, hope, and guidance.  Prayer has nourished countless souls and powered moral movements — including essential fights against racial injustice, child labor, and infringement on the rights of disabled Americans.  Prayer is also a daily practice for many, whether it is to ask for help or strength, or to give thanks over blessings bestowed.

The First Amendment to our Constitution protects the rights of free speech and religious liberty, including the right of all Americans to pray.  These freedoms have helped us to create and sustain a Nation of remarkable religious vitality and diversity across the generations.

On this National Day of Prayer, we unite with purpose and resolve, and recommit ourselves to the core freedoms that helped define and guide our Nation from its earliest days. We celebrate our incredible good fortune that, as Americans, we can exercise our convictions freely — no matter our faith or beliefs.  Let us find in our prayers, however they are delivered, the determination to overcome adversity, rise above our differences, and come together as one Nation to meet this moment in history.

Biden, a supposedly devout Catholic who campaigned on the promise of unifying Americans, already has surpassed pro-abortion President Barack Obama as the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history.

And he did it after just 100 days in office.

Just a few days after taking office, Biden celebrated the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that forced states to legalize abortion on demand.

A few days later, he issued an executive order to restore taxpayer funding to the International Planned Parenthood Federation, the British-based abortion chain Marie Stopes International and other abortion groups. Biden also took steps to restore funding to the United Nations Population Fund, a group linked to forced abortions and forced sterilizations in China. His action rescinded several of President Donald Trump’s pro-life executive orders that defunded these abortion groups of hundreds of millions of American tax dollars.

This month, the Biden administration reversed another pro-life action by the Trump administration that stopped taxpayer funding to research using aborted baby body parts. Now, Americans’ tax dollars may be used again to fund gristly experiments, such as implanting aborted babies’ scalps and fingers onto mice for scientists to study.

And perhaps the most egregious and dangerous action to-date, the Biden administration stopped enforcing FDA safety regulations for abortion drugs. Now, the abortion industry can sell abortion drugs through the mail without ever seeing the woman in person.

This was something not even Obama did. While the Obama administration did loosen FDA regulations for abortion drugs, even it did not do away with them completely because it recognized their danger. The abortion drug mifepristone has been linked to dozens of women’s deaths and thousands of serious complications. Pro-life leaders warned that Biden’s action will put women’s and unborn babies’ lives at risk and increase the likelihood of coercion and abuse.

Perkins responded: “[Biden] has made clear that he places no value on the inherent dignity of human life. His actions deny the truth that every human life, born and unborn, possesses inherent dignity and deserves to be treated with respect.”

Biden and his administration do not respect Americans’ moral or religious convictions either. Though polls consistently show that a strong majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding for abortions, Biden has taken several actions to force them to do just that.

His administration recently introduced a rule to restore taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups through Title X and he signed a COVID relief package with no limits on taxpayer funding for abortions.

According to the Family Research Council, the Biden administration thus far has allowed almost $480 billion in taxpayer funds to be used to subsidize abortions and abortion businesses.

On religious freedom, Perkins said Biden also has “racked up a record of targeting people of faith and faith-based organizations by demoting religious protections.”

Currently, Biden is pressuring Congress to pass the Equality Act, which would strip away conscience protections for pro-life medical workers and create a “right” to demand an abortion.

Earlier this month, his administration also ended the Commission on Unalienable Rights, a panel established by the Trump administration to advocate for religious freedom across the world.

Not acting alone, Biden “has surrounded himself with the most extreme cabinet in American history,” Perkins said. “Many of Biden’s highest appointees have no qualifications besides their abortion activism and their track record of trampling on religious freedom.”

These include new HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, a career politician and prosecutor with no health care experience who repeatedly has championed abortion on demand and challenged religious freedom. Vice President Kamala Harris also is notorious for prosecuting undercover investigator David Daleiden after he exposed Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby body parts trade.

Travis Weber, vice president for policy and government affairs at Family Research Council, said Biden’s claims of unity ring hollow when compared with his actions.

“… Biden’s first 100 days in office have been marked with radical, aggressive, anti-life, anti-family, anti-freedom actions that have further divided our nation,” Weber said. “His administration has moved more aggressively than any other to undo federal policies that protect the sanctity of life and defend the family. Any American who claims to value all human life, support the biological reality of the family, and want to protect freedom, should take note of Biden’s abysmal record in these areas.”
