Another Democrat politician has left the party because of its increasingly radical pro-abortion agenda.

Fox News journalist Gregg Jarrett reports North Las Vegas, Nevada Mayor John Lee announced his switch to the Republican Party on Tuesday.

“When you’re a pro-life Democrat, a pro-gun Democrat, and you’re a very conservative person, that’s not really well known in the Democratic party anymore. And so for me to hang on as long as I did hoping the party would change, it didn’t. It got worse,” Lee told Fox & Friends.

Lee, a life-long Democrat up until now, became mayor of North Las Vegas in 2013. He was re-elected in 2017, according to the report.

The mayor expressed frustration with the Democratic Party’s increasing radicalism and its abandonment of working class Americans and small business owners as well as unborn babies.

“Though I’ve been a registered Democrat on paper my entire life, I made the switch in my heart a long time ago because, on some things, there’s simply no compromise,” Lee said in a statement. “It’s not the party that I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party that I can stand with anymore.”

Lee is not alone. Other prominent individuals who have left the party include New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drewa Massachusetts mayora Louisiana state representativea Philadelphia political activist and a pro-life leaderMany voters also have been leaving and publicly voicing their frustration with the party.

Democrat leaders’ extreme pro-abortion stance is one of the main reasons why so many are leaving. Most Americans, religious or not, disagree with the new party platform, which supports unrestricted abortions and demands that taxpayers pay for them.

A January Marist poll found 58 percent of Americans oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions in the U.S. Additionally, 77 percent oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions in other countries. A 2016 Harvard/Politico poll also found that most voters, including a strong majority of low-income voters, oppose taxpayer-funded abortions.

Democrats for Life of America estimates that about one in three Democrats are pro-life. Last summer, its leaders expressed frustration that President Joe Biden has not done anything to appeal to pro-life voters. Quite the opposite, Biden embraced an even more radical pro-abortion agenda on the campaign trail, calling for taxpayer-funded abortions and the “codifying” of Roe v. Wade into federal law.

Since taking office, he has started to put that life-destroying agenda into action, getting rid of the Mexico City Policy and restoring tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Pro-life leaders warned that the money will be used to pressure countries in Africa and South America to legalize the killing of unborn babies in abortions.

Biden also is pressuring Congress to pass the Equality Act, which would strip away conscience protections for pro-life medical workers and create a “right” to demand an abortion.
