An Illinois Planned Parenthood affiliate with a long record of destroying black lives is using Women’s History Month to advertise itself as a champion for black women.
According to the Chicago Crusader, Planned Parenthood Illinois Action, the advocacy arm of the abortion chain, is hosting an upcoming event with U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood to discuss “improving Black maternal health outcomes.”
Planned Parenthood advertised the event in honor of Women’s History Month in March, saying it wants to “improve health outcomes for Black mothers” and increase “funding for family planning services.” The pro-abortion group also wants to repeal the state Parental Notice of Abortion Act, which requires that a parent be informed before their underage daughter has an abortion.
The event is part of the pro-abortion group’s “Activist University,” which trains people to be abortion activists.
Planned Parenthood, a billion-dollar abortion chain, often touts itself as a women’s health advocate and focuses especially on minority women. But its “core mission” is not actual health care, it’s abortions.

Pro-life advocates have noted that Illinois Planned Parenthood facilities, in particular, have a poor reputation for protecting women when they get abortions. This includes evidence of multiple botched abortions and a $2 million legal settlement to the family of a woman who died with her unborn baby in an abortion.
In 2012, Tonya Reaves, a 24-year old African American woman, died from major complications after a second-trimester abortion at a Chicago area Planned Parenthood. According to Operation Rescue, Reaves’ autopsy indicated that she could have survived her injuries if she had received proper emergency care in a timely manner.
Two years later, Planned Parenthood agreed to pay a $2 million settlement to Reaves’ young son in a legal settlement.
Pro-lifers with Operation Rescue also documented 22 ambulance calls to the Near North Planned Parenthood in Chicago in the past five years. The abortion facility is located in an urban minority neighborhood on North LaSalle Drive.
Abortions do not help women. They kill unborn babies, and Planned Parenthood aborted more than 354,000 of them last year.
New research from the Life Issues Institute confirmed that the abortion chain is targeting minority mothers and unborn babies for abortions. It found that 86 percent of Planned Parenthood’s abortion facilities are located in or near African American and Latino neighborhoods. The research analyzed 2010 Census data surrounding 79 Planned Parenthood abortion facilities located in the 25 counties in the U.S. with the most abortions.
Planned Parenthood has a long history of discrimination, beginning with its founder Margaret Sanger. Sanger helped to lead the eugenics movement, frequently promoting discrimination through her writing and speaking, including in a speech to the KKK in 1926.
Today, Sanger’s ugly beliefs live on through Planned Parenthood’s billion-dollar abortion practice. Since abortion became legal nation-wide in 1973, an estimated 20 million unborn black babies have been aborted in America, many of them at Planned Parenthood. And in New York City, where Sanger started the abortion chain, city health data indicates that more African American babies are aborted in the city than are born each year.
Though Planned Parenthood is trying to distance itself from Sanger’s racism, its leaders have no hesitation to say publicly that “EVERY reason to have an abortion is a valid reason,” including for sex-selection, race and disabilities like Down syndrome.
