President Donald Trump used his last day in the White House to honor March for Life founder Nellie Gray in the new National Garden of American Heroes.

On Monday, he issued an executive order to include the pro-life leader in the garden along with former presidents, civil rights leaders, scientists, inventors, artists, musicians, athletes and others who have made significant contributions to America, Christian Headlines reports.

“In short, each individual has been chosen for embodying the American spirit of daring and defiance, excellence and adventure, courage and confidence, loyalty and love,” Trump said in the order. “Astounding the world by the sheer power of their example, each one of them has contributed indispensably to America’s noble history, the best chapters of which are still to come.”

The National Garden is a new project that Trump announced in July. It will include statues of American heroes like Gray. The Trump administration estimated it will be completed and ready to open by July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the proclamation of the Declaration of Independence, according to the report.

Gray, who died in 2012 at age 88, founded the March for Life in 1974 in response to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Roe v. Wade. The infamous ruling forced states to legalize abortion on demand, making the U.S. one of only seven countries in the world that allows unborn babies to be killed in elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. As a result, more than 62 million unborn babies have been legally killed in abortions in the U.S.

The annual march brings hundreds of thousands of pro-life advocates to Washington, D.C. every year to peacefully protest the deadly ruling. This year, the March for Life will be held online due to safety concerns about the coronavirus and political unrest.
