Washington Post Says Joe Biden’s Catholicism is All About “Healing,” But He’s Radically Pro-Abortion

Much is being made of Joe Biden’s Catholic faith in the leftist media.

Though the president-elect supports the killing of unborn babies in abortions and wants to force taxpayers to fund their deaths, he continues to promote himself as a compassionate, devout Catholic who cares about the most vulnerable. And he relies on faithful leftist news outlets to promote this image.

On Monday, the Washington Post described Biden as a “devout, churchgoing liberal” who is focused on “healing and inclusion,” according to Breitbart.

“The country will soon observe for the first time a president who goes to Mass every Sunday, plus on Catholic feast days, and sprinkles conversation casually with scripture, religious hymns and references to religious history,” the article states.

While the Post mentioned that many Catholics believe Biden is not a “legitimate Catholic” because of his positions on life, family and religious freedom, it dismissed these criticisms, noting that “Biden could redefine what it means to be a Catholic in good standing.”

“Millions of Americans hungry for a faith focused on healing and inclusion will embrace it — especially on the left, where believers have felt trampled by the religious right into nonexistence since the 1970s,” the article continues.

Rather than question how Biden can claim to be Catholic while fighting against so many of its fundamental beliefs, the Post seemed to praise him for his obstinate disobedience.

According to the report:

[The Post] quotes Villanova University professor Massimo Faggioli in suggesting that Biden’s willingness to thumb his nose at Catholic teaching is “unapologetic.”

Joe Biden is a Catholic in the public square who doesn’t take lectures from bishops about what being Catholic is about. This is totally new,” Faggioli said.

Biden hypocritically champions positions that contradict the teachings of his faith and jeopardize the lives and freedoms of millions of Americans, the worst being his plans to expand abortions and force taxpayers to fund them.

As a result, a number of Catholic priests and bishops have said Biden should not receive communion.

“It is not enough to say: ‘I have faith,’” Father Patrick McCafferty wrote at The Irish News earlier this month. “Our behaviour and actions must be in harmony with what we profess with our lips (Matthew 15:8). Hence there are grave difficulties with President-elect Biden receiving the Eucharist, as well as other public figures … who profess a form of ‘Catholicism’ (2 Timothy 3:5).”

Rhode Island Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin, Colorado Bishop Samuel Aquila of the Archdiocese of Denver, Philadelphia Archbishop emeritus Charles Chaput and others also have said they do not think Biden should receive communion unless he repents.

Biden’s plans and the people leading his administration are radically pro-abortion. They also oppose religious freedom protections for Catholic charities and employers. His vice president, Kamala Harris, has been accused of anti-Catholic bigotry. She also prosecuted pro-life undercover journalists who exposed Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby body parts trade.

If Biden does what he promised, abortions could increase across America. Not only does he plan to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law in case the U.S. Supreme Court overturns it, he also wants to end the Hyde Amendment and force taxpayers to pay for elective abortions.

Without the Hyde Amendment, researchers at the Charlotte Lozier Institute predict 60,000 more unborn babies could be killed in abortions each year.

In April, Biden went so far as to call abortion an “essential medical service” during the coronavirus pandemic. His health care plan would expand abortions as well by forcing insurance companies to cover abortions as “essential” health care under Obamacare.

He also promised to undo all of President Donald Trump’s progress for life, including restoring funding to the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

On religious freedom, Biden’s position also is deeply troubling. Biden has endorsed anti-religious freedom policies that would force nuns, religious charities and hospitals to violate their deeply-held beliefs by funding the killing of unborn babies in abortions and potentially even by helping to facilitate their deaths. He also promised to restore an Obama-era mandate that would force the nuns with Little Sisters of the Poor and other religious employers to fund contraception, including types that may cause abortions, in their employee health insurance plans.
