Franklin Graham Calls for Americans to Pray, Slams Democrats’ “Demon-Driven Abortion Agenda”

Evangelical Christian leader Franklin Graham urged Americans to pray for the new Democrat leaders as they take office and prepare to push a radical pro-abortion agenda.

“We are in trouble,” Graham wrote Wednesday on Facebook. “I believe God’s judgment is coming, for the sins of our nation are great and they are a stench in the nostrils of our Creator.”

A strong pro-life advocate, Graham repeatedly has called out Democrat politicians for supporting the killing of unborn babies in abortions. His response to Raphael Warnock, a pro-abortion Democrat who describes himself as a “pro-choice” pastor and claims his support for abortion is “consistent” with biblical values, was especially strong. Warnock recently won a U.S. Senate seat in Georgia.

“Abortion represents the biggest, most significant INJUSTICE of our time in history—genocide of entire masses of babies,” Graham wrote in November in response to Warnock. “I hope the Church and all Georgians will see through this demonic-driven abortion agenda.

“This is not just a political issue, it is a moral and biblical issue. We need leadership in our nation that sees the wisdom in defending life,” he continued.

However, Democrats now have control of the White House and Congress, and party leaders are pushing to expand abortions by ending the Hyde Amendment and forcing taxpayers to pay for them. If they succeed, tens of thousands more unborn babies could be killed in abortions every year.

Graham, the CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, urged Americans to pray and trust in God.

“Pray for President-elect Joe Biden, that he would not be swayed by the voices of self-interest, but that he would listen to the still small voice of Almighty God,” he said this week.

“Just because we might not have voted for someone doesn’t mean that we get a pass to not pray for them. The Bible instructs us to pray for all of our leaders—’all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior’ (1 Timothy 2:2-3). We must not give up or waver,” Graham continued.

On Thursday, he encouraged Christians to unite in prayer to “stop the finger-pointing and realize that both parties bear responsibility for the problems we face today. Pray that they will come together and work together for the good of all of the American people.”

Biden’s plans and the people leading his administration are radically pro-abortion. They also oppose religious freedom protections for Christian charities and employers.

Vice president-elect Kamala Harris has been accused of anti-Catholic bigotry. And her record suggests she could use her political power to persecute pro-life advocates, too. Infamously, when she was attorney general of California, Harris raided undercover journalist David Daleiden’s home after he exposed Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby body parts trade. According to The Federalist, Harris met six Planned Parenthood leaders just two weeks before the raid. A newly uncovered document from the California Department of Justice document suggests Harris may have received specific instructions from the abortion chain about what to take when her office raided Daleiden’s home.

If Biden does what he promised, abortions could increase across America. Not only does Biden plan to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law in case the U.S. Supreme Court overturns it, he also wants to end the Hyde Amendment and force taxpayers to pay for elective abortions.

About 900,000 unborn babies are aborted every year in America, and about 62 million have been aborted since 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court forced states to legalize abortion on demand. Without the Hyde Amendment, researchers at the Charlotte Lozier Institute predict 60,000 more unborn babies could be killed in abortions each year.

In April, Biden went so far as to call the killing of unborn babies an “essential medical service” during the coronavirus pandemic. His health care plan would expand abortions as well by forcing insurance companies to cover abortions as “essential” health care under Obamacare.

He also promised to undo all of President Donald Trump’s progress for life, including restoring funding to the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

On religious freedom, Biden’s position also is deeply troubling. Biden has endorsed anti-religious freedom policies that would force nuns, religious charities and hospitals to violate their deeply-held beliefs by funding the killing of unborn babies in abortions and potentially even by helping to facilitate their deaths. He also promised to restore an Obama-era mandate that would force the nuns with Little Sisters of the Poor and other religious employers to fund contraception, including types that may cause abortions, in their employee health insurance plans.
