Eduardo Verástegui, a Latin American actor and pro-life advocate, criticized the president of Argentina over the weekend for legalizing the killing of unborn babies in abortions.

President Alberto Fernández introduced legislation to legalize abortions in early 2020, and the Argentina legislature approved it last week.

The new law allows unborn babies to be aborted for any reason up to 14 weeks of pregnancy and later in cases of rape or dangers to the mother’s life or health. It allows girls over 13 to get secret abortions without their parents’ knowledge or consent and could force medical providers to either abort unborn babies or refer women to someone else who will.

Verástegui, who grew up in Mexico, slammed the abortion law as government-approved “genocide.”

“The President of Argentina @alferdez proposed a genocide and pushed for it to be passed! And whoever directs a genocide is a genocide. I ask God for you, Alberto; It is never too late to repent and rectify. God is merciful but He is also just,” he wrote Saturday on Twitter (translated from Spanish).

Verástegui compared Fernández to King Herod, the biblical figure who ordered that babies be killed around the time of Jesus’ birth to prevent another ruler from taking his place.

“And nobody escapes from his Justice. I repeat, if you want to fight someone, get one of your size, do not be like the coward Herod who had innocent children killed,” the actor wrote.

“Your hands, like his, will be covered in innocent blood. What good is it for man to conquer the whole world if he loses himself?” he concluded.

Verástegui, an actor, singer and producer, is known for his award-winning film “Bella.” He has acted in numerous TV shows and films, including “Little Boy,” “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2,” “CSI: Miami” and “Charmed.” He also is active in the pro-life movement.

Most countries in Central and South America protect unborn babies from abortion. Until now, Argentina only allowed abortions in cases of rape or threats to the mother’s life. Abortion advocacy groups, backed by some of the richest men in the world, hope the vote in Argentina will prompt neighboring countries to legalize abortions as well.
