She Was Born Premature at 27 Weeks, When Some Babies are Still Killed in Abortions

Looking at her chubby cheeks and angelic expression as depicted in the photo I saw, you would have thought she was just another baby about to celebrate her first Christmas.

But this was a baby that had been prayed into the world and covered with prayer since she drew her first breath on planet Earth.

The baby’s mother had had a highly challenging pregnancy and gave birth to her tiny angel at 27 weeks gestation. At a time when some preborn babies in this country are aborted, this little fighter was battling for life, weighing in at just a little more than two pounds.

Week by week, a prayer group raised their hearts and voices to the Almighty, asking that God allow this precious soul to live. With each pound gained, the group of friends gave thanks.

A Christmas miracle occurred earlier this week, when medical personnel removed the baby’s feeding tube. She now weighs a healthy nine pounds and is probably one of the heavyweights of the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

Her family continues to long for the day when their baby can come home. The friends who have accompanied the baby in prayer are confident that day will come soon.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us say a prayer of thanksgiving for all the babies who brought joy to the otherwise difficult year of 2020. And let us offer a prayer of blessing to all those courageous mothers who are preparing to give birth in 2021. With each baby, our faith in humanity is renewed once again, and a little more love enters the world.
