Elizabeth Banks: Stand Your Ground Laws are Wrong, Killing Babies in Abortions is Right

Elizabeth Banks, an actress heavily invested in the pro-abortion movement, criticized an Ohio self defense bill Friday because it could endanger innocent children.

The Daily Wire reports Banks (“Hunger Games,” “Pitch Perfect”) said “Stand Your Ground” laws do not help anybody and put children and pets at risk.

“Stand Your Ground is BS,” she wrote on Twitter, reacting to an Ohio bill that would allow people to shoot in self-defense even if they do not attempt to retreat first.

Banks shared a personal experience to warn people about how dangerous such legislation could be. As a child, she said she was playing hide-and-seek one night in her neighborhood when someone shot at them with a bow and arrow.

“This guy didn’t yell out ‘who’s there’ or ‘get off my property or I’m calling the cops’ or any other question or warning,” she wrote. “He just shot at children. He hit the tree so it was seemingly a warning shot. Message received, WE yelled out that we were just playing and could he let us please run away without shooting. Then we ran.”

“Also sometimes our dog got loose. We would go into yards looking for her. All I can think about when people pretend Stand Your Ground is about anything other than permission to kill people are those moments when I myself stepped onto a neighbor’s property,” Banks continued. “Where is the evidence that Stand Your Ground does anything but endanger your neighbors, their dogs, their kids? It helps nobody but people who want justified reasons to use a deadly weapon.”

“If I’d been shot and killed playing hide and seek, would that new neighbor have been able to just shrug his shoulders while living across the street from my grieving parents? With laws like this, probably yes,” she added.

Banks’ experience certainly must have been traumatic, and her desire to protect children is good. But as The Blaze pointed out, “On the other hand, Banks has no issue whatsoever with some people being allowed to indiscriminately kill children via abortion procedures.”

She openly advocates for it. Last year, Banks told People magazine that abortion is a “human right.”

“Women should have bodily autonomy, and there is no equality for women without them being able to decide when and with whom to bear children,” she said.

Banks has been an abortion activist for years. She repeatedly has promoted the abortion giant Planned Parenthood in her celebrity interviews, and worked on pro-abortion media campaigns. In the spring, she participated in an “Operation Save Abortion” fundraiser for independent abortion facilities operating during the coronavirus crisis. The Daily Wire reports Banks also leads the Creative Council at the Center for Reproductive Rights.
