The Irwins, one of Australia’s most famous families, are celebrating the gift of life this fall by sharing about their unborn baby’s development on Instagram.

Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, is expecting her first child, a girl, with her husband, Chandler Powell, Live Action News reports.

Over the past several months, the couple has been sharing their excitement on Instagram through videos, photos and facts about their daughter’s development. In a post last week, Bindi showed a video of her unborn daughter on an ultrasound screen.

“This is so exciting,” she said in the video. “Look at our daughter — she’s so beautiful.”

“Wow,” her husband added. “You can see her heartbeat there. Oh my goodness. She is beautiful.”

The couple were married in March. Bindi is a wildlife conservationist who works with her family at the Australia Zoo. In some of her recent posts, she has coupled her love for animals with her pregnancy journey, comparing her daughter’s size to some of the animals that she knows and cares for.

“Baby girl is doing great,” she wrote in October. “Every time we get an ultrasound she’s incredibly energetic and always moving around. She’s now about the same size as a mountain pygmy-possum. Too cute!”

In November, Bindi wrote: “Halfway there! 20 weeks pregnant and our baby girl is about the same size as a recently hatched emu chick. The love I have for my sweetheart husband and our beautiful daughter is boundless.”

Though the Irwins’ daughter is still in the womb, they said she already is “the light of our lives.”

“Beyond thankful that she chose us to be her parents. I can’t wait for her to be here next year,” Bindi wrote.

Ultrasounds are amazing technology that provide a window into the womb. They help reinforce the fact that unborn babies are unique, living human beings who deserve to be protected and valued.
