The abortion industry is rooted in eugenics, the false notion that certain races and groups of people are less valuable than others, African pro-life leader Obianuju Ekeocha told Breitbart this week.
Ekeocha, president of Culture of Life Africa, criticized two of the largest abortion chains in the world for their surface-level attempts to prove to society that they are not racist.
“It is not enough to distance themselves from their eugenic roots, the entire abortion industry is still very much racist and eugenicist in their practices,” she said.
Earlier this week, Marie Stopes International changed its name to MSI Reproductive Choices to attempt to distance itself from its founder’s discriminatory eugenic beliefs.
The British-based abortion chain kills millions of unborn babies every year in more than 30 countries around the world. By changing its name, it appears to be trying to save its image amid heightened concern about racial discrimination.
Stopes, much like Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, was well known for her eugenic beliefs about vulnerable populations. Both women believed that certain groups of people, including the poor and people with disabilities, should be sterilized because they were “unfit” to have children. Stopes also advocated against interracial marriage, the AP reports.

Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood also removed Sanger’s name from its Manhattan abortion facility to “acknowledge Planned Parenthood’s contributions to historical reproductive harm within communities of color.”
Sanger, who founded Planned Parenthood in New York in 1916, was a well-known eugenicist who believed certain groups of human beings were “weeds,” “reckless breeders” and “morons” who should not have children.
Today, Ekeocha said Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes continue their founders’ eugenic mission by killing unborn babies in abortions — especially the babies of poor and minority women.
“… modern society cannot continue to ignore the fact that the abortion industry is targeted towards poorer, less privileged and minority communities,” she said.

[She] told Breitbart News that Tuesday’s announcement by abortion giant Marie Stopes International that it was changing its name to MSI does nothing to change the group’s sordid history or its present eugenic practices.
What people should be asking themselves, Ekeocha said, is “why the most prolific abortion organizations in the world are inextricably linked to eugenicists and racists whose work was spurred on by their desire to prevent the birth of people considered to be ‘misfits’ and ‘inferior.’”
Since abortion became legal in the U.S. in 1973, an estimated 20 million unborn black babies have been aborted, many of them at Planned Parenthood. In New York City, city health data indicates that more African American babies are aborted in the city than are born each year.
Marie Stopes, now MSI, also has been targeting unborn babies in African countries for decades. It reported doing 2.6 million abortions in Africa in 2019, and millions more in Europe, the Americas and Australia.
MSI has been accused of doing hundreds of illegal, unsafe abortions in Africa. In 2017, parents and community leaders in Kitui, Kenya were outraged after learning that Marie Stopes workers allegedly came into their children’s school and implanted long-lasting contraceptive devices into girls as young as 14 without their parents’ knowledge or consent. And in 2018, the west African country of Niger ordered all Marie Stopes facilities to close for facilitating illegal abortions.
Meanwhile, the U.S., Planned Parenthood continues to fight against legislation that protects unborn babies from discrimination based on their sex, race or a disability. One of its abortionists recently told the AP in a public statement that “EVERY reason to have an abortion is a valid reason,” including because of the unborn baby’s sex, race or disability.
