New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presides over a state where more people have died from the coronavirus than any other. His order putting patients with COVID into nursing homes resulted in killing at least 15,000 nursing home residents, a disaster for which he still hasn’t taken any responsibility.

But apparently Cuomo feels like he deserves a raise, and he just gave himself a $25,000 one.

According to the New York Post:

Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be getting a $25,000 pay raise in January 2021, as the state faces a massive $63 billion budget deficit owed to revenue losses tied to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cuomo’s salary will jump from $225,000 to $250,000 on Jan. 1, 2021 — making him the highest paid governor in the nation.

But judges and 213 state lawmakers serving in the state Senate and Assembly didn’t get the green light for their own expected raises, which have to be approved by the Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation which argued the state is too broke to pay up thanks to COVID-19.

Writer Matt Palumbo at the Bongino Report criticized Cuomo for taking the massive pay increase.

“If New York were its own country, it would have more coronavirus deaths per-capita than any other place in the world. That’s a statistic few are even aware of, and one you’ve likely heard repeated zero times in the mainstream media. Fortunately for Governor Andrew Cuomo, he’s a Democrat’s, and hence the media has played defense for him and his administration, often portraying him as one of the Governors on the side of sanity during this pandemic,” he said.

“In reality he’s been the worst Governor to confront the crisis, and as a consequence, will somehow be rewarded with an increase in pay that makes him the highest paid governor in the nation. That comes in addition tot he money he’ll rake in from his book on his supposed “leadership” during the pandemic,” Palumbo added.

He said that the number of people leaving New York shows how bad Cuomo has been for the state.

“The exodus out of New York has also exacerbated during the pandemic, which is hardly a vote of confidence in Cuomo’s supposed leadership he wrote on an entire book praising himself about.”
