Yes, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Support Aborting a Baby 5 Minutes Before Birth

Americans still are not getting an accurate picture from the mainstream media of how radical Democrat presidential candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are on abortion.

Biden and Harris support abortions “under any circumstances” and want to force taxpayers to pay for them. They want to “codify” Roe v. Wade into federal law and keep the killing of unborn babies in late-term abortions legal across the country. They also want to give more money to the nation’s largest abortion chain, Planned Parenthood.

Yet, misleading reports and “fact checks” about the candidates’ position continue to surface.

The Latin Post and NBC News recently slammed a popular social media post targeting Latino voters on the issue. It reads (translated from Spanish), Biden and Harris “support an abortion 5 minutes before birth and if it survives the abortion, they approve of killing the baby.”

The Latin Post described the post as “misinformation,” pointing to an article by Spanish language fact checker Verificator. Meanwhile, NBC criticized the post as a “false meme that Biden and Harris support drastically late-term abortions.”

SIGN THE PLEDGE: We Can’t Vote for Pro-Abortion Joe Biden

It’s true that Biden and Harris have not explicitly said they support abortions up to birth (the mainstream media has not pressed them for an answer on the issue). But their statements and voting records indicate that they do hold this radical pro-abortion position.

Their support for Roe v. Wade is one indication. The 1973 case allows abortions for basically any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. Because of Roe, the United States is only one of seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks – a fact confirmed in 2017 by the liberal Washington Post.

Roe and subsequent Supreme Court rulings prohibit states from passing laws that protect unborn babies prior to viability. However, states are not under any obligation to protect unborn babies after viability either, and some – including Colorado and New Mexico – allow abortions for any reason up to birth.

Aborting viable, healthy babies with healthy mothers is not just a hypothetical situation, either. Prominent pro-abortion researchers and leaders have admitted that late-term abortions on viable, healthy unborn babies who have healthy mothers are happening. Abortions up to birth are real, too. A mother recently told the BBC that she was offered an abortion all the way up to the time of her daughter’s birth because her daughter has Down syndrome.

Biden has said he wants to codify Roe into federal law. Recently, he said he supports the so-called right to abort an unborn baby “under any circumstances.” He also called elective abortions an “essential medical service” during the coronavirus shutdowns in April.

Biden also has made it clear that he represents his party. The Democratic Party platform supports abortions without limits and calls for forcing taxpayers to pay for them.

“My party is me. Right now, I am the Democratic Party. I am the Democratic Party, right now. The platform of the Democratic Party is what I, in fact, approved of,” Biden said at the presidential debate in September.

More evidence comes from Harris’s voting record as a senator from California. She recently voted against the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, a bill that would protect newborn babies from infanticide by requiring that they receive basic medical care.

She also co-sponsored a radical pro-abortion bill that would have ended the limited protections that states have passed to protect unborn babies and mothers. Nicknamed the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act,” the bill would have invalidated nearly all state and federal abortion regulations, including waiting periods, informed consent requirements, bans on late-term abortions and sex-selection abortions and more.

Biden and Harris are radical on abortion and deeply out of touch with most Americans on the issue. Polls consistently show that most Americans support protections for unborn babies, especially at later stages of pregnancy. Voters deserve to know the truth about where the candidates stand.
