The fiery preaching of a Maryland Catholic priest is catching the intense attention of Catholics and other pro-life Christians via the internet.
In a recent Sunday homily, Father Ed Meeks, pastor of Christ the King parish in Towson, MD, called Vice President Biden “unabashedly pro-abortion.” The Democratic Party “the party of death and Joe Biden is their standard bearer.”
Here is the link to the entire homily.
Father Meeks warned that “powerful forces” in government, the media, and the high technology industry are “working aggressively to silence the Church through legislation, lies, intimidation and censorship.” He said the country is “starring into the abyss.”
“We are, as a nation, staring into the abyss stemming from our culture’s wholesale rejection of God and His law,” Father Meeks said, “a rejection manifested most tangibly in five decades of legalized abortion.”
One Evangelical Protestant commented in a text message sharing the video, “This priest is defending godly principles against the actions of Joe Biden.” Father Meeks, the texter said, also “condemns the rest of the evangelical church as we sit silent while evil attempts to prevail.”
Father Meeks called on “faithful Catholics and other Christians to stand up courageously and forthrightly and say enough is enough.”
While making it clear that he is not telling anyone how to vote, Father Meeks said Mr. Biden who claims to be a practicing Catholic, “Stands in very public, very obstinate opposition to Church teaching,” about the sanctity of human life and the preservation of religious liberty –the “moral principles where the Church draws a clear line in the sand.”
“Be aware of the reality before we cast our vote,” Father Meeks said. “The stakes involved far transcend politics.”
