Pro-abortion groups are spending tens of millions of dollars to ensure Joe Biden and other pro-abortion Democrats win office in November.
This week, Open Secrets, which keeps track of political donations, reported that Planned Parenthood, EMILY’s List and NARAL are dumping huge amounts of money into the upcoming election – nearly six times as much as pro-life groups.
A lot of their money has been going to support Biden, a pro-abortion Democrat who has promised to force taxpayers to fund abortions and “codify” Roe v. Wade into federal law. Pro-abortion groups also are spending money to oppose the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Another thing that stands out about the Open Secrets report is that these so-called pro-women groups also are spending huge amounts of money to defeat several of the top female lawmakers in America, including U.S. Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Joni Ernst of Iowa and Martha McSally of Arizona.
According to the report, the pro-abortion EMILY’s List PAC has dumped $58 million into the election so far and its affiliate Women Vote! PAC has spent an additional $24.2 million. Much of their money has gone toward helping Biden and opposing Collins and Ernst.

The political arm of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in the U.S., has spent $6.1 million so far, including on ads supporting Biden and opposing President Donald Trump, the report continues. It also is buying ads to oppose Collins and McSally.
Overall, the billion-dollar abortion chain announced plans to spend at least $45 million on the 2020 election.
Here’s more from the report:
In the presidential election, it has spent $1.3 million against Trump and almost $1 million supporting Biden [so far].
It’s also released several six-figure digital ad campaigns this summer attacking vulnerable GOP senators. The group’s largest target this election are two women senators from opposite sides of the country. Planned Parenthood has spent $633,000 against Collins and $582,000 against Sen. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.).
The pro-abortion group NARAL spent an additional $1.7 million on defeating Republican candidates so far this year, the report states.
Open Secrets documented the election spending through September, noting that more will be spent in the coming month. Its spending report only included groups that focus primarily on abortion. Other multi-issue pro-abortion political groups like Demand Justice are spending even more money to defeat pro-life politicians and support pro-abortion candidates for office.
In late September, The Hill reported how pro-abortion groups plan to spend at least $10 million on ads against Barrett. The president and many others have praised Barrett as a “brilliant and gifted” lawyer who will uphold the Constitution and not legislate from the bench.
A Notre Dame law professor and judge on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Barrett is Catholic, conservative and pro-life. If confirmed, pro-life advocates hope and abortion activists fear that she could lead to the undoing of Roe v. Wade and help restore protections for unborn babies.
Year after year, pro-abortion groups have vastly outspent pro-life organizations in elections, but that spending largely has not swayed public opinions on abortion.
According to the Pacific Standard: “If you search the usual websites for campaign-finance data on pro-choice and pro-life groups, a surprising fact becomes clear: Pro-choice abortion-policy organizations outspend pro-life ones, by anywhere from 20 percent to 900 percent, nearly every year, going back to 1990, which is the oldest data gathered by the Center for Responsive Politics.”
According to Gallup polls, however, Americans have remained consistently opposed to abortion across those same decades. As LifeNews reported in June, Gallup found 60% of Americans take a pro-life position on abortion wanting all (21%) or almost all 39% abortions made illegal.
Still, pro-lifers have a lot of work to do. The abortion industry has a lot of money and influence, and its backers are some of the richest old men in the world, including George Soros and Warren Buffet. It also has the backing of much of the mainstream media, which frequently fails to inform voters about its extreme pro-abortion agenda.
The 2020 election has high stakes. Depending on who wins, America could restore protections for babies in the womb, or it could return to the early post-Roe days when unborn babies could be aborted for any reason up to birth by an unregulated, profit-driven abortion industry.
