Patricia Heaton: Liberals Show “Breathtaking Ignorance” When They Trash Christians for Their Faith

Actress Patricia Heaton urged Christians to get ready for “breathtaking ignorance of religion” amid massive contention over the presidential election and open U.S. Supreme Court seat.

Heaton, an Emmy-award winning actress known for starring in “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “The Middle,” also is a vocal pro-life advocate and strong Catholic.

On Sunday on Twitter, she warned Christians — Catholics, in particular — to prepare for hostilities, according to Fox News.

“Friends, be prepared for social media to be filled with an onslaught of arrogant pronouncements based on breathtaking ignorance of religion in general, Christianity specifically and Catholicism in particularly by people who wouldn’t recognize God if He bit them on the bum,” Heaton wrote on Twitter.

Though Heaton did not mention the Supreme Court, her comment may have been a reference to the open seat left by the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died last week.

One of President Donald Trump’s top candidates for the seat, Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, already is being attacked in the media for her faith and pro-life views.

During Barrett’s U.S. Senate confirmation hearing to the Seventh Circuit, pro-abortion Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein told her, “The conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you.”

Other conservative Catholic judges also have been targets of criticism because of their faith. In 2018, Democrat vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris accused a federal judge of being “extreme” because he is a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal service organization.

Heaton, a rare conservative voice in Hollywood, understands the hostilities that pro-lifers and Catholics often face. In a past interview, she said she often goes separate ways with her Hollywood friends on the abortion issue.

“I find it impossible to subscribe to a philosophy that believes that the destruction of human life is a legitimate solution to a problem that is mostly social, economic and psychological,” Heaton said. “In reality, most women ‘choose’ abortion because they believe they have no other choice. Women who experience unplanned pregnancy also deserve unplanned joy.”
