Planned Parenthood Supports Biden Because He’d Force Americans to Fund Abortions

Planned Parenthood has a big reason for supporting Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden: money.

The billion-dollar abortion chain could become even richer on American tax dollars if Biden wins the White House. He has promised not only to reverse President Donald Trump’s cuts to Planned Parenthood but also to fight for direct taxpayer funding for abortions.

In a recent interview with The Hill, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson explained why they endorsed Biden.

“The opportunity exists with a new administration and a new Congress not only restore Title X but also modernize it, and make sure that we are expanding access around contraception and expanding access around sex education,” Johnson said.

“I think there’s opportunity to think a lot bigger than what we had for what is a 50-year-old program, and I think it’s really exciting,” she continued.

Title X is a taxpayer-funded family planning program for low-income individuals. Trump created a new rule for the program that defunded Planned Parenthood of about $60 million.

In March, Biden said one of his first acts as president would be to restore Title X and other funding to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in America. He also promised to restore about $100 million in funding to the International Planned Parenthood Federation by ending the Mexico City Policy, which Trump put in place during his first week in office.

If Biden succeeds, Americans also could be forced to give about $73 million additional tax dollars to the British abortion chain Marie Stopes International, which Trump also defunded through his pro-life policy.

The abortion industry is not hurting for money. Planned Parenthood has been reaping in billion-dollar revenues for the past several years. According to its most recent annual report, it aborted more than 345,000 unborn babies last year while collecting more than $500 million in taxpayer dollars.

If Biden wins, Planned Parenthood is almost guaranteed a budget boost courtesy of the American taxpayers – not only through Title X and the end of the Mexico City Policy but also through direct taxpayer funding for elective abortions.

In 2019, Biden reversed his long-standing support for the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding for elective abortions in Medicaid and other federal programs. House Democrat leaders also said they will push for direct taxpayer funding for abortions in 2021.

That could mean millions more tax dollars to the abortion industry and 60,000 more aborted babies every year, according to research by the Charlotte Lozier Institute.

But just as Trump cannot completely defund Planned Parenthood on his own, Biden could not end the Hyde Amendment without the support of Congress.

According to The Hill, Planned Parenthood’s political arm is backing pro-abortion Democrats in multiple state and federal races, hoping to keep the House in Democrats’ control and win the U.S. Senate.

Though leaders at Planned Parenthood claim they represent the majority view of Americans, polls show otherwise. According to a national poll by Marist University in January, three in four Americans (75 percent) say abortion should be limited to – at most – the first three months of pregnancy. This includes most Republicans (92 percent), Independents (78 percent) and Democrats (60 percent). Recent Gallup polling also found that 53 percent of Americans oppose all or most abortions.

A Politico/Harvard University poll in 2016 found that just 36 percent of likely voters supported taxpayer funding for abortions, while 58 percent opposed it.
