Pastor Raphael Warnock Claims Killing Babies in Abortions is “Consistent” With Biblical Values

A Georgia pastor who is running for U.S. Senate claimed last week that supporting legalized abortion, which has killed tens of millions of unborn babies in the U.S., is “consistent” with his biblical values.

Speaking on the “Mission: Timpossible” podcast, the Rev. Raphael Warnock said he believes abortion is a “human right,” and he will fight for it in the U.S. Senate, if elected, the Christian Post reports.

Warnock is one of several candidates running in a special election to finish U.S. Sen Johnny Isakson’s term. A pro-life Republican, Isakson resigned due to health problems in 2019. U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler currently is filling the seat.

Last week, Warnock told podcast host Tim Bryant that he believes his faith and his support for abortion are not contradictory. He said he believes health care is a “human right,” and abortion is part of that.

“[A]nd for me, reproductive justice is consistent with my commitment to that,” he said. “I believe unequivocally in a woman’s right to choose.”

Here’s more from the report:

The reverend told Bryant that his advocacy on behalf of those issues was “consistent with” his view as a Christian minister.

“Do you think it’s consistent with God’s view, that God endorses the millions of abortions we’ve had in this country since Roe v. Wade?” Bryant asked, referencing the 1973 Supreme Court decision that determined there is a national right for mothers to choose an abortion.

Warnock responded: “I think that human agency and freedom is consistent with my view as a minister.”

While he promised to support important pregnancy and parenting services that women need “to have a healthy pregnancy and … healthy baby,” Warnock also said he believes the government should stay out of the abortion issue.

He claimed the decision to abort an unborn baby should be up to a woman “and her doctor and her minister,” and he promised to fight for “women’s health, women’s choice and reproductive justice” if elected.

Yet, Warnock failed to mention that the Bible clearly condemns certain “choices” as evil when they harm other people, especially the most vulnerable human beings in society. Abortions kill unique, living unborn babies – children who are supposed to be regarded as a blessing, according to the Bible.

Christian teachings clearly condemn the shedding of innocent blood and the harming of children, and the Bible recognizes unborn babies as valuable human beings.

True Christianity raises up the most vulnerable. It defends the defenseless and offers compassion to the suffering. And that is what pro-life advocates, secular and religious, do every day for mothers and babies across the world. They offer struggling families true blessings by reassuring them that every life is valuable.

Yet, in the name of religion, some Christian leaders are perverting the truth and leading people astray. In doing so, they are further jeopardizing the futures of countless children in society.
