Pro-Life Democrat Says “Joe Biden Would be the Most Pro-Abortion President in History”

Democrat pro-life voters – and there are many of them – are feeling abandoned now that Joe Biden and the Democratic Party are openly embracing taxpayer-funded abortion on demand.

In a piece at the Wall Street Journal, pro-life Democrat leaders Kristen Day and Xavier Bisits mourned how the party is pushing away pro-life voters.

“We’re liberal and we’re pro-life. The party refuses even to ask for our votes,” Day and Bisits wrote.

Day, the executive director of Democrats for Life of America, and Bisits, a board member, said Biden would be “the most pro-abortion president in history.”

Abandoning Democrats’ “safe, legal and rare” platform, Biden now believes killing unborn babies in abortions is “essential health care” and taxpayers should be forced to pay for them. For this radical stance, he received the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America, which supports abortion on demand without restrictions.

Most Americans do not support Biden’s new pro-abortion position, including many Democrats.

“According to Gallup, roughly 1 in 3 Democrats consider themselves pro-life, but Mr. Biden has made no outreach to us,” Day and Bisits wrote. “In fact, top Democrats have gone out of their way to make it clear that we are no longer welcome in the party.”

These include several Democrat presidential candidates and prominent U.S. Senators. Both Pete Buttigieg and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders publicly rejected pro-life Democrat voters while they were running for president earlier this year.

As National Review reports, “When Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar told Meghan McCain on The View that ‘there are pro-life Democrats, and they are part of our party,’ and argued that Democrats ‘need to build a big tent [and] bring people in instead of shutting them out,’ she faced extensive criticism from the left.”

Day and Bisits said Biden has not done anything to appeal to pro-life voters. Quite the opposite, his position shifts on abortion indicate he is trying to court the billion-dollar abortion industry and not pro-life or even moderately pro-choice voters.

“America’s 21 million pro-life Democrats face a choice between staying home, risking four more years of Donald Trump’s destructive agenda, and voting for Joe Biden, a candidate who snubs us and our values,” they wrote. “We would love to vote for Mr. Biden, but if he wants our vote, he will have to earn it.”

If Biden wins the presidency, tens of thousands more unborn babies could be killed in abortions annually. Last year, Biden announced that he no longer supports the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer-funded elective abortions. Popular among Americans, the amendment has saved more than 2.4 million unborn babies from abortions, or about 60,000 each year, according to research by Charlotte Lozier Institute.

He said one of his first acts as president would be to restore funding to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in America.

Biden also said he is committed to “the constitutional right to an abortion” and to reversing “the Trump administration and states’ all-out assault on women’s right to choose.” He promised to “work to codify Roe v. Wade.” The infamous U.S. Supreme Court decision made the United States one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

It has been nearly 50 years since the U.S. Supreme Court forced states to legalize abortions, and more than 62 million unborn babies are dead. America does not need more abortions, and Americans do not want more. But the abortion industry does, and Democrat leaders receive massive political donations from abortion advocacy groups each year.
