Professional sports isn’t just about sports anymore. Like so many other things, it has become political.

Writing at the World Tribune, Joe Schaeffer exposed how the NBA and WNBA are rapidly becoming pro-abortion.

“The NBA and its leading lights have up until now trod very softly on the issue of abortion, fully realizing how alienating it would be to a large chunk of its fans,” Schaeffer wrote.

But that is changing, and Schaeffer predicted that the NBA will become more open about it soon. The reason? Its new chief marketing officer also is a board member at Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in the U.S.

He wrote:

The NBA just announced the creation of the NBA Foundation, a social justice fund that will start off with $300 million in seed money to fund “black empowerment.” There is every reason to believe that this marks the beginning of an overt, vigorous financial activism for the league. It’s not hard to detect where an expanded agenda will lead.

Kate Jhaveri was appointed Chief Marketing Officer of the NBA in 2019. Her official NBA.com bio proudly states that “Jhaveri serves as secretary of the national board for Planned Parenthood Action Fund.” Jhaveri’s LinkedIn page boasts of her role at Planned Parenthood right under her NBA listing. “Working with a supremely talented organization to ensure millions of women have access to the healthcare they deserve,” it reads. This woman is simultaneously serving as a top staffer for the world’s preeminent basketball league and the Western world’s leading baby murdering operation.

Previously, Jhaveri worked for the social media giants Twitter and Facebook, which have been repeatedly accused of censoring pro-lifers.

But Jhaveri is not the only abortion advocate in the NBA. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban also has publicly supported the abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

According to Schaeffer’s research, in 2015 on Twitter, Cuban defended Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger against accusations of racism and eugenics. He later deleted the tweet. Fast-forward five years, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York recently announced that it is distancing itself from Sanger because of her eugenic beliefs “rooted in racism, ableism and classism.”

Two years after Cuban’s tweet, in 2017, the WNBA team Seattle Storm became the first professional sports team to partner with the abortion chain. At the time, team co-owner Dawn Trudeau said supporting Planned Parenthood was a great project for the women-owned, women-run team because the abortion chain offers “essential services” to women.

Then, in 2018, the WNBA partnered with Planned Parenthood and several other organizations for a “women’s empowerment” event called “Take a Seat, Take a Stand.”

WNBA president Lisa Borders praised the event as an opportunity to “come together as a league to stand with our partner organizations, our fans and the many inspiring women raising their voices for change in the current women’s movement.”

There is a darker, more personal side to abortion advocacy in the NBA as well. LifeNews.com has reported about several stories of NBA players accused of trying to force or pressure women into aborting their unborn babies.

The abortion industry does not need or deserve Americans’ support. Planned Parenthood alone does more than 345,000 abortions each year. It reported $1.6 billion in revenue on its latest annual report, including about $600 million in taxpayer funds. The abortion industry also receives billions of dollars from some of the world’s richest men, including Warren Buffett, George Soros and Bill Gates.

Abortions don’t just destroy future fans and future athletes. They kill unique, living unborn babies and hurt entire families.
