A father in Ghana recently shared about his 9-year-old daughter’s miraculous survival after an abortion attempt by his ex-wife.

In an interview with Joy News Prime Morning show host Emefa Adeti, Victor Sarbah said his 9-year-old daughter, Perpetual, was injured in the abortion attempt, but she did not die as her mother intended.

“Perpetual’s disability was caused by her mother’s actions,” Sarbah said. “Her mother has a friend who has been aborting pregnancies for people, and I was warning her not to be friends with that woman.”

He said he suspects she succeeded in aborting one of their other babies before Perpetual.

“She later got pregnant and experience a miscarriage. I asked her about it and she told me she fell down; not knowing, the friend had given her drugs to abort the baby,” he said.

Sarbah continued, “And when she was pregnant with Perpetual, too, she took the drug again, but it didn’t work this time around.”

The abortion injured Perpetual’s legs, and she cannot walk correctly, he said. The friend who supplied the abortion drugs later made fun of his ex-wife for “having a child who walks like a frog,” he said.

The couple divorced when Perpetual was 2 years old, and Sarbah received sole custody of his daughter, according to the report.

“I returned from a prayer meeting one day, only to find her packing her stuff to leave,” he said. “When I refused to let her take our children away, she said I should get ready to go to court. I chose not to fight her, so she took the first and third children, leaving one boy and Perpetual with me.”

All across the world, there are stories of children who have survived abortions. Their stories expose the truth that abortion is not a choice, a simple medical procedure or a right. It is the destruction of a living, unique human being. Abortion survivors are living proof that every human being is valuable, from conception to death, and deserves to be protected.

The Abortion Survivors Network, based in the United States, has connected with 336 survivors of abortion. It estimates there are tens of thousands of survivors across the world.
