Kanye West, the musician and presidential candidate, told a rally in South Carolina over the weekend that he almost killed his daughter in an abortion. But he said a message from God prompted him to save her and to lobby his wife Kim Kardashian to save her life.

West also said his own father wanted his mother to have an abortion, but she rejected his suggestion.

“My Mom saved my life. My Dad wanted to abort me,” West said. “My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy.”

After sharing that, West broke down and started crying and got very emotional before the crowd.

“I almost killed my daughter!” he screamed. “I almost killed my daughter!”

“[Kim Kardashian] called me screaming and crying … she said, ‘I’m pregnant’ … She said she was pregnant and for one month, and two months, and three months we talked about her not having this child. She had the pills in her hand,” West continued, adding, “The screen went black and white and God said, ‘If you f**k with my vision, I’m gonna f**k with yours.’ And I called my wife, and she said, ‘We’re gonna have this baby.’ I said, ‘We’re gonna have this child.’”

During the rally, West talked with a woman who said she had an abortion because she couldn’t afford to take care of her baby and the singer said he wanted to do more to find a way to support women and help them choose life.

“Jesus loves all people … and God wants us to create,” he said. “You have never met someone who said, ‘I had this child and it was the worst thing.’”

Thousands of pregnancy centers across the country that provide women with support every day in such situations stand ready to receive his help.
