John-David’s life was precious even though he never lived outside the womb.
The tiny baby was miscarried at 14 weeks of pregnancy earlier this week. His parents shared their son’s photo with LifeNews.com to raise awareness about the value of every baby’s life, whether inside or outside the womb.
“Our hearts are broken,” John-David’s father Andre Duran said. Yet, he added, “God is amazing in all He does, even when we don’t understand His plans or His ways.”
Duran included a photo showing the little baby’s body in the palm of his hand. Already, the baby boy had eyes and a nose, fingers and a mouth, tiny hands and feet.
From the moment of conception, unborn babies are irreplaceable, living human beings with their own unique DNA. By 8 weeks, an unborn baby already has a beating heart, brainwaves and functioning kidneys, according to the Endowment for Human Development. By 12 weeks, they can sigh and stretch and may even show signs of being right- or left-handed.

John-David may have yawned or sucked his thumb before he was miscarried, and he probably already had his own unique fingerprints. By 14 weeks, his taste buds and lips were forming and his bones were starting to harden.
His life already was full of amazing details, though few were able to see them.
Andre Duran asked how anyone can abort an unborn baby like his son. He responded to a LifeNews.com tweet noting how 2,300 unborn babies are killed in abortions every day.
“How can anyone harm a baby so pure, innocent, and precious? To know the child would’ve one day grown to see the sun, to laugh and smile, to love and be loved….how can a person destroy the image of God?” Duran said.
