A leading conservative organization decided to stop participating in Amazon’s charity program this week because of how it funds the abortion industry.

The Media Research Center wants nothing to do with the “tainted hate-filled money” from AmazonSmile and will no longer accept money from the program, president L. Brent Bozell said Monday. His watchdog organization exposes liberal biases in the mainstream media, reports on conservative issues and reviews entertainment media.

“Amazon is no longer just a retailer. It’s a left-wing activist organization with an agenda,” Bozell said.

Initially, the charity branch of the billion-dollar company received a positive reception from pro-life and conservative organizations. AmazonSmile donates a portion of an individual’s purchases to the charity of their choice, and many pro-life organizations signed up to participate.

Recently, however, Amazon kicked out several prominent pro-life charities from the program, including the Family Research Council and Alliance Defending Freedom. Amazon based its decision on the recommendation of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which claims the pro-life organizations are “hate groups.”

Meanwhile, the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood and the SPLC itself still can collect donations through AmazonSmile.

“To allow Planned Parenthood to receive donations, but not Christian conservative groups like Family Research Council and Alliance Defending Freedom, is completely unacceptable,” Bozell said. “We will no longer have anything to do with this deeply biased program.”

Bozell thanked donors who used the program to support the Media Research Center in the past.

“Any money from Amazon is tainted, hate-filled money that we want nothing to do with,” he said. “The liberal-loving Jeff Bezos and his hacks at Amazon and Washington Post oppose everything we stand for at the MRC. While we thank supporters who have used the program, we ask that they continue their donations directly, instead of through Amazon’s filter of hate.”

According to the Daily Caller, AmazonSmile has donated more than $160 million to charities. In 2018, the Southern Poverty Law Center received $37,739 through the program, and it continues to influence the company. In May, company shareholders rejected a resolution to limit the power of SPLC over AmazonSmile.

For years, the conservative watchdog for corporate activism 2ndVote also has been urging shoppers to avoid Amazon because of its political biases.

“Shopping in the comfort of your own home is great, but shopping at Amazon quite frankly isn’t great,” 2ndVote said on its website. “Amazon directly funds the Population Council, an organization that targets impoverished areas for abortion.”

“Even worse, they nauseatingly market abortion as a solution to poverty,” it continued. “Amazon is a corporate champion of the left, which is why we suggest going to Overstock.com instead.”
