Canadian political leaders keep using their citizens’ tax dollars to promote the killing of unborn babies in abortions across the world.

This week, the Canadian Press reported about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s plan to spend an additional $8.9 million to help women and girls get abortions during the coronavirus pandemic.

Announcing the new funding, International Development Minister Karina Gould claimed abortion is a vital service that the government must support. She said the pandemic has made it difficult for women to get abortions, contraception and other reproductive health care in some areas of the world, and Canada wants to help end the problem.

Gould said coronavirus restrictions also have led to a “staggering” increase in violence against women, and $2 million of that funding will go to a United Nations effort that helps women who are victims of violence, according to the report.

Unfortunately, Trudeau’s administration ignores that abortion is another form of violence against unborn babies and mothers. And rather than combating this violence, it supports it.

Last year, Trudeau promised to dedicate an additional $300 million tax dollars to promote abortions in the next four years. And, in 2018, he gave an additional $8 million to the world’s biggest abortion business, Marie Stopes International.

Across the country and around the world, non-essential medical procedures and treatments like cancer treatments, stents to prevent clogged arteries, dental work and joint replacements were postponed because of shutdown orders, the AP reports. These are important health care procedures; they save lives and relieve pain, but they were delayed so that hospitals had more beds, equipment and staff to treat people suffering from the virus.

But the abortion industry thinks it is special and so do its benefactors, like Trudeau. It wants its work killing unborn babies elevated above real health care. Many abortion facilities remained open during the shutdowns, and others fought orders by U.S. states that restricted them from doing elective abortions.

Recently, medical groups representing more than 30,000 doctors in America emphasized that abortions are not “essential” or “urgent,” and abortion facilities that continue to operate during the pandemic are being “medically irresponsible.” Common abortion complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth.
