Woman’s Parents Strangle Her to Death After She Refuses to Kill Her Baby in an Abortion

Abortion is a violent act that begets even more violence against mothers and their unborn babies.

Though abortion is often marketed as a woman’s “choice,” the legalization of it has made it acceptable, even mandatory in some people’s minds. And so instead of “choice,” some women are forced to abort their unborn babies against their will – or abused if they resist.

On Monday in India, a husband and wife were arrested for allegedly strangling their pregnant daughter after she refused to have an abortion, Telangana Today reports.

According to Shanti Nagar police, the young woman had been away at college where she became involved in a relationship with a man from a different caste.

Police said the young woman returned home to the village of Manopad during the coronavirus shutdowns. Soon afterward, her parents learned that she was pregnant, according to the report.

According to police, the parents pressured their daughter to have an abortion, but she refused. Abortions are legal up to 20 weeks of pregnancy in India.

The parents locked her in her room every night, afraid she would elope, police said. Then, on Saturday, they allegedly strangled her to death using a pillow and bed sheets, the report states.

A neighbor in the village reported the allegations to police, and the parents confessed to murdering their daughter on Monday, police said.

Horrific stories like these happen more often than people may realize. Women are abused or killed when they refuse to end their unborn babies’ lives. Others are forced to abort their unborn babies under threat of abuse.

As horrific as they are, forced and coerced abortions are not uncommon. As LifeNews previously reported, one study found that as many as 64% of post-abortive women say they felt pressure to have an abortion. Often that coercion comes from a partner or parent.
