The newly-elected mayor of Boise, Idaho is facing criticism for a new report that envisions free abortions and sex education starting in preschool in the capital city.

The report, “A More Equitable City for Everyone,” came from Boise Mayor Lauren McLean’s transition team, which she established to make recommendations to the city, Fox News reports.

Many of the proposals are radical, prompting conservatives to deem the report a “socialist wish list,” according to the report.

McLean is a pro-abortion Democrat who was endorsed by the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood. She was elected in December.

In the report, McLean’s transition team said it wants Boise to become a “model for the rest of Idaho and the country.” Through “meaningful reforms,” city leaders “hope to build the future our children and families dream of and hope for,” the report states.

But the so-called “dreams” envisioned by the team include aborting unborn children. Under the heading “Thriving – Health, Education, Economics,” one of the goals listed in the report is for the city to provide “free contraception as defined by the CDC, abortion and reproductive health care.”

Another section of the report recommends “sex education at pre-K through 12th grade” in the Boise School District.

News of the radical proposals broke last week, sparking outrage in the largely conservative, pro-life state.

Dustin Hurst of the Idaho Freedom Foundation slammed the report, saying it would “fundamentally transform Boise into a socialist enclave,” according to Fox News.

McLean defended the report in an interview with KTVB, arguing that it is proposals, not a policy document.

“They are reports to me and my administration, and when we all talked, when I released them, I said that clearly and I wanted to transparently share them,” she said. “There are points throughout all my transition reports that provide ideas and solutions that are not in the purview of the city …”

But “free,” taxpayer-funded elective abortions are a goal of Planned Parenthood, too. And it spends tens of millions of dollars backing candidates like McLean who support its radical pro-abortion agenda.

Polling data is clear that Americans oppose abortion funding.

A 2019 poll by Marist University found that three-quarters (75 percent) of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion abroad, while only 19 percent support such funding. By a double-digit margin, a majority of all Americans oppose any taxpayer funding of abortion (54 percent to 39 percent).

Similarly, a 2016 Harvard University/Politico poll found just 36 percent of likely voters support taxpayer-funded abortions, while 58 percent oppose it.
