Pro-life actor Kevin Sorbo is speaking up for mothers and babies in one of the areas hardest hit by the coronavirus.
On Wednesday, he is scheduled to co-host an online event supporting the work of Good Counsel, a Catholic maternity home charity in New York, Aleteia reports.
New York has been struggling to combat the spread of the virus, and Good Counsel has adapted its services to protect mothers and babies in need, according to the report. The charity runs five maternity homes in New York and New Jersey.
Its online event with Sorbo, “Pregnancy Help For The Pandemic & Abortion Epicenter,” will explain how Good Counsel maternity homes are continuing to help mothers and babies in difficult circumstances.
“We will not shut out women in need during this most critical time,” said Sandra Jones, CEO of Good Counsel, in a statement. “As people are staying home, as they should, tensions will heat up. For those who are now unemployed, depression and anxiety will rise. Domestic violence will escalate the longer this goes on. Good Counsel will respond with immediate help for women and children who need us.”
Sorbo (“Hercules,” “God’s Not Dead”) is scheduled to co-host the event with priest and canon lawyer Father Gerald Murray.
They plan to highlight how the maternity homes provide shelter and other resources to pregnant and parenting mothers, including those who are homeless or struggling with addictions and/or mental health problems. The pro-life charity also runs a post-abortion healing program and a national hotline: 1-800-723-8331.

Since it began, the charity has sheltered more than 7,800 mothers and babies, according to its website. It also has helped to establish maternity homes in other states.
Unlike many celebrities, Sorbo is a strong advocate for unborn babies’ right to life. In April, he slammed the mixed-up priorities of American politics, noting how abortion facilities are still allowed to kill unborn babies during the global health crisis but Christians are being punished for going to church.
“In a nation where liquor stores, marijuana dispensaries, and abortion clinics are deemed ‘essential’ by government bureaucrats during the coronavirus outbreak, and church attendance is judged non-essential, we don’t have to study long to diagnose the morbid condition of America,” he wrote on Twitter.
He and his wife have been speaking out against the atrocity of abortion for years. Previously, Sorbo said Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby body parts harvesting scheme “ought to make you sick.” After the discoveries in Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s abortion “house of horrors,” Sorbo and his wife said they were praying “that the thousands of babies slaughtered are never forgotten.”
