Hundreds Protest Gretchen Whitmer: She Closed Hair Salons and Kept Abortion Clinics Open

Wednesday saw another protest at the Michigan capital as state residents’ frustration grows with pro-abortion Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and her shutdown orders.

Earlier this spring, Whitmer allowed abortion facilities to stay open, but she shut down small businesses, halted non-essential health care, restricted travel and more – all supposedly to save lives from the coronavirus.

FOX 2 reports hundreds of people participated in the “Operation Haircut” protest, named after a 77-year-old barber who reopened his shop after being denied unemployment.

“Dope shops are open, abortion mills churn on, but barber shops are, somehow, unsafe. Show us that ‘science,’ Governor!” said Marian Sheridan, a co-founder of the Michigan Conservative Coalition, which organized the event. “Her actions show this is now about a progressive radical agenda.”

According to the report, some barbers provided free haircuts during the rally in defiance of Whitmer’s restrictions. The Michigan State Police gave several warnings and $1,000 tickets, the report states.

Whitmer and state Attorney General Dana Nessel, both pro-abortion Democrats, are targeting a 77-year-old barber who re-opened his shop after being denied unemployment.

Supposedly, Owosso barber Karl Manke is jeopardizing lives by re-opening his “non-essential” business after three months. Meanwhile, abortion facilities in Michigan have been aborting unborn babies unhindered throughout the shut-downs, with Whitmer’s permission.

A Texas salon owner who was jailed for opening her business in violation of coronavirus restrictions defended Manke and slammed Whitmer as a “tyrant,” the AP reports.

“Why does your governor think that it’s OK to open up for marijuana, liquor sales?” Shelley Luther said. “Can’t you get an abortion? But you cannot get your hair cut. What is wrong?”

Whitmer responded by claiming the protesters are adding to the spread of the virus.

“I will not stop working around the clock to protect every single person in this state,” she said. “No matter who you are, where you come from, or political party you subscribe to.”

But the pro-abortion Democrat governor did the opposite when she allowed abortion facilities to keep aborting unborn babies through the crisis. In April, Whitmer tried to defend her decision to allow elective abortions while restricting other necessary medical procedures.

“A woman’s healthcare, her whole future, her ability to decide if and when she starts a family is not an election, it is fundamental to her life,” Whitmer said on Axe Files podcast. “It is life sustaining and it’s something that government should not be getting in the middle of. ”

Tens of thousands of people in Michigan lost their jobs because of Whitmer’s restrictions, and many cannot even buy seeds to plant gardens to feed their families. Individuals are not allowed to use their own motor boats and vacation homes to social distance either.

Meanwhile, a pro-life sidewalk counselor recently received a citation for standing alone outside a Detroit abortion facility, supposedly in violation of Whitmer’s order. The citation later was dropped after he filed a lawsuit.

However, abortion facilities continue to abort unborn babies unhindered – destroying lives when so many others are losing their jobs and businesses, suffering in pain because of postponed medical care and more, all supposedly in the name of saving lives.
