Barber Loses License for Violating Gretchen Whitmer’s Lockdown, Abortion Clinics Can Still Kill Babies

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s coronavirus shutdown orders have many questioning if she really cares about saving lives or just wants to exert her power over the state.

Right now, Whitmer and state Attorney General Dana Nessel, both pro-abortion Democrats, are targeting a 77-year-old barber who re-opened his shop after being denied unemployment.

Supposedly, Owosso barber Karl Manke is jeopardizing lives by opening his “non-essential” business after being closed for three months.

Meanwhile, abortion facilities in Michigan have been aborting unborn babies unhindered throughout the shut-downs, with Whitmer’s permission. In 2018, 26,716 abortions were reported in the state. Even a temporary halt to elective abortions could have saved thousands of babies’ lives.

Increasingly, Michiganders are expressing their outrage at the governor’s orders. On Monday, a huge crowd of people gathered in the rain to support Manke in Owosso, according to The Center Square.

The event was organized after Nessel suspended Manke’s license last week, the report states.

“I would encourage every single person in Michigan to open up, stand up, and show up,” Manke said, ABC 12 reports. He also recited the Serenity Prayer.

His lawyer David Kallman said they filed an emergency appeal Monday to stay the suspension of Manke’s barber license. Kallman said they also are fighting Nessel’s attempts to close Manke’s shop.

Also speaking at the event was Dallas, Texas beauty shop owner Shelley Luther, who was sent to jail for opening her shop in violation of state coronavirus orders, the report states. Luther said she grew up in Michigan.

“I had 20 hair stylists working in my place. They were behind on their mortgage. They couldn’t feed their kids, and they said, ‘You know, we got to go under ground in peoples’ houses because we don’t want to get caught,’” Luther said.

She said it does not make sense that Whitmer closed businesses like Manke’s but allowed life-destroying abortions to continue.

In April, Whitmer tried to defend her decision to allow elective abortions while restricting other necessary medical procedures.

“A woman’s healthcare, her whole future, her ability to decide if and when she starts a family is not an election, it is fundamental to her life,” Whitmer said on Axe Files podcast. “It is life sustaining and it’s something that government should not be getting in the middle of. ”

Tens of thousands of people in Michigan lost their jobs because of Whitmer’s restrictions, and many cannot even buy seeds to plant gardens to feed their families. Individuals are not allowed to use their own motor boats and vacation homes to social distance either.

Meanwhile, a pro-life sidewalk counselor recently received a citation for standing alone outside a Detroit abortion facility, supposedly in violation of Whitmer’s order. The citation later was dropped after he filed a lawsuit.

However, abortion facilities continue to abort unborn babies unhindered – destroying lives when so many others are losing their jobs and businesses, suffering in pain because of postponed medical care and more, all supposedly in the name of saving lives.
