A Colorado branch of Planned Parenthood highlighted Tuesday how it is aborting more unborn babies during the coronavirus crisis in an interview with the local news.
“The numbers that we’ve seen have been pretty extraordinary,” Vicki Cowart, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, told FOX 31 News Denver. “Our last fiscal year we saw patients coming for abortion from 37 different states.”
In April, Colorado Planned Parenthoods did more than 250 abortions on out-of-state patients, including nearly 150 from Texas, Cowart said.
“Abortion was put on hold [in Texas],” she said. “It was an effective ban on abortions in Texas.”
Texas temporarily halted elective abortions and other non-essential medical procedures as part of its restrictions to save lives during the coronavirus outbreak. The abortion industry challenged the restriction in a lawsuit, but the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the state mandate to go into effect.
Abortions recently resumed in Texas because state leaders have been lifting coronavirus restrictions. But during the legal battle, Cowart said they saw a lot of women traveling to Colorado for abortions.
“Literally people just haven’t known whether they could get an appointment or not, so a lot of them have said, ‘That’s it — I’m just getting in the car and driving,’” she told the news outlet.
Cowart gave the impression that she was happy Planned Parenthood could provide women with what it claims is an “essential” service. But abortions are unnecessary, life-destroying procedures that do not heal or help women. They destroy unborn babies’ lives and often harm mothers.

Recently, medical groups representing more than 30,000 doctors in America emphasized that abortions are not “essential” or “urgent,” and abortion facilities that continue to operate during the pandemic are being “medically irresponsible.”
Common abortion complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth.
Planned Parenthood makes money doing abortions, and it keeps trying to do more of them. Its most recent annual report recorded 345,627 abortions and $1.6 billion in revenue.
Meanwhile, pro-life charities are stepping up to support families in need during the global health crisis. Option Line reported a huge increase in calls recently on its 24-hour pregnancy help hotline. Run by Heartbeat International, the hotline connects mothers to local support services, including pregnancy resource centers that provide free diapers, pregnancy tests, clothes, counseling and other resources to moms and babies.
Embrace Grace, another pro-life outreach, is helping to organize online baby registries, virtual meetings, and other efforts to support pregnant and new moms who choose life. And Abby Johnson recently shared that her new ministry, Love Line, which provides financial and material support to help moms choose life for their babies, recently heard from a Texas mom who decided to keep her baby because of the Gov. Greg Abbott’s order.
