Governor Cuomo Says “Human Life is Not Disposable,” But He Signed a Bill Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made a powerful statement about the value of every human life last week while battling the growing coronavirus crisis.

“My mother is not expendable, and your mother is not expendable, and our brothers and sisters are not expendable, and we’re not going to accept a premise that human life is disposable, and we’re not gonna put a dollar figure on human life. The first order of business is save lives, period. Whatever it costs.” Cuomo said on March 24.

The Democrat governor has been working aggressively to fight the pandemic and protect his state residents. However, his past and present actions indicate that he does not truly value every human life.

As evangelical Christian leader Franklin Graham pointed out last week on Twitter: “I agree with him on the high value of life and applaud his efforts to defend it from COVID19. Yet [Cuomo] signed a law that legalizes abortion up to birth for nearly any reason. I respectfully urge him to consider his statements today in light of the millions of innocent lives taken by abortion.”

Graham practices what he preaches. His ministry, Samaritan’s Purse, set up an emergency field hospital this week in Central Park to help with the health crisis, according to CBN News.

New York has been one of the hardest hit areas by the virus. According to the New York Times, hospitals are stretched thin and nearly 1,400 people who tested positive for the virus have died. Meanwhile, Cuomo has expressed concerns about adequate medical supplies and equipment to combat the growing pandemic.

But, even in the midst of the crisis, he still is showing favoritism to the abortion industry. Unlike elective and non-essential medical procedures, elective abortions are allowed to continue in New York. Abortion facilities are destroying unborn babies’ lives and using up medical supplies that are desperately needed to save lives.

Last year, Cuomo unashamedly celebrated the destruction of human life when he signed a radical pro-abortion bill into law, allowing unborn babies to be aborted for basically any reason up to birth. He even lit state landmarks pink to honor the occasion.

Graham urged the Democrat governor to think about his statement last week and recognize that every human life is valuable, born and unborn.

“Human life isn’t expendable. We should work to save it—from womb to tomb,” Graham said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, as of Wednesday, there were 186,101 reported cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. and 3,603 deaths.

Unlike New York, some states included elective abortions in their restrictions on all non-essential medical procedures during the coronavirus. These orders are meant to conserve medical supplies and prevent the spread of the virus. However, many of these states are being sued by the abortion industry.

Although the situation is fluid, here are the latest reports from LifeNews.com on the status of abortion and orders to stop non-essential medical services:
