Mississippi is the second state in the country to at least temporarily become abortion free.

Yesterday, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves urged the state’s only abortion facility to close and comply with a state order postponing all elective medical procedures due to the coronavirus. According to a new report that has happened.

As LifeNews first reported, the pro-life Republican governor said abortions should stop in the state, especially during the health crisis. Earlier, the state health department issued an order to stop all elective and unnecessary medical procedures so that medical resources can be preserved to combat the growing coronavirus pandemic. Reeves said there is nothing necessary about killing unborn babies in abortions, and the Jackson Women’s Health Organization must comply with the order.

“We’re doing everything in our power, and have for many years, to make Mississippi the safest place in America for unborn children,” Reeves said. “We’ll take whatever action we need to to protect not only the lives of unborn children, but also the lives of anyone who may contract this particular virus.”

According to the Daily Caller, the Jackson Women’s Health Organization has stopped killing babies in abortions:

An unnamed employee at the abortion clinic, Jackson Women’s Health Organization, told the DCNF the clinic is open but will not be performing abortions on Wednesday, for the rest of the week, or for the foreseeable future until given direction by the government. Jackson Women’s Health Organization will follow government direction, the employee said.

She refused to give a name, directed the DCNF to the clinic’s communications team, and ended the call. The same employee refused to connect the DCNF with the clinic’s communications team when the DCNF called an additional time and said the clinic declined to comment.

If the abortion center does not stop killing babies in abortions, Governor Reeves said,  after issuing his order, that he would take action. When asked what steps he may take to close the abortion facility, Reeves replied: “… I don’t know any specifics, so I’m not saying they are currently operating. I just simply don’t know … We’ll take whatever necessary actions.”

He emphasized the need for action, especially when the United States is trying to save lives from the coronavirus.

“The reason those elective procedures is shut down is … we need to protect our (personal protective equipment), our masks, et cetera, and other supplies for anyone who gets infected by this virus,” he said.

Although the situation is fluid, here are the latest reports from LifeNews.com on the status of abortion and orders to stop non-essential medical services:

Texas: Abortion centers are temporarily closed after Governor Greg Abbott’s order.

Maryland: Abortion centers are included in the abortion to close but whether they have officially closed is unknown.

Louisiana: Abortion centers are included in the order to close and all three have closed.

Ohio: Abortion centers are included in the order to close but they are refusing to close.

Mississippi: Abortion centers are included in the order and the state’s sole abortion business has closed.

New Jersey: Shut down non-essential health care but abortion centers are excluded.

Washington: Shut down non-essential health care but abortion centers are excluded.

California: Shut down non-essential health care but abortion centers are excluded.

Pennsylvania: Shut down non-essential health care but abortion centers are excluded.

Massachusetts: Shut down non-essential health care but abortion centers are excluded.

Abortions are not life-saving, they are life-destroying. An unborn baby is killed, and its mother’s life is put at risk. Common abortion complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion where parts of the baby remain inside the mother’s womb. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it simply is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth. Mothers who cannot get abortions are not unhealthy as a result. They become mothers of newborn babies.

During this global pandemic, the world should be focused on doing everything it can to save lives, not kill them.
