Abortion Activists Complain Babies May Not be Killed During Coronavirus Outbreak

Abortion activists are panicking because the world is focusing on providing real medical care to people suffering from the coronavirus, not abortions.

Legal Insurrection blogger Mary Chastain noticed a National Abortion Federation email this week pressuring the medical community to continue providing elective abortions amid the health crisis.

Though hospitals and doctors offices are worried about having enough staff, resources and beds for people suffering from the virus, abortion activists are urging them to use those precious resources to end lives through abortion.

“During this public health crisis, pregnancy care, including abortion care, remains an essential health service. The National Abortion Federation (NAF) calls on leaders to ensure that outpatient abortion clinics can remain open and urges hospitals to continue to provide abortion care,” the email states.

But abortions are not “essential.” Almost all abortions in America are elective. According to National Right to Life, “Women have cited ‘social reasons,’ not mother’s health or rape/incest, as their motivation in approximately 93% of all abortions.”

Yet, it is this unnecessary “service,” this killing of unborn babies, that abortion activists want medical leaders to devote time and resources to.

The Huffington Post also published an alarmist headline Tuesday, warning, “Abortion Access is Under Threat as Coronavirus Spreads.”

Texas abortionist Joe Nelson, who works at three abortion facilities in Texas, quarantined himself this week because he is sick and may have the corona virus. He told the news outlet that he is worried some women won’t get abortions because he is sick, and most other doctors won’t do abortions.

“If a provider gets sick, that’s one fewer person to provide care,” the Very Rev. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, president of NAF, told the Huffington Post. “One or two people unable to show up can make the difference between a clinic being able to function or not.”

Ragsdale then claimed doctors should not treat abortions as elective because they “can’t be scheduled out indefinitely.” Nine months means the baby is outside the womb and can’t be aborted.

“We worry that all health care resources are being channeled to non-elective procedures, and abortion tends to be classified as an elective procedure,” Ragsdale said. “We understand that abortion isn’t a stroke or a heart attack, and it can be scheduled out. But it can’t be scheduled out indefinitely.”

Mothers who cannot get abortions are not unhealthy as a result. They become mothers of newborn babies, but Ragsdale won’t say that. Instead, her organization’s email claims reducing abortion access could lead to “profound consequences for women and their families.”

“Denying or deferring abortion care places an immediate burden on patients, their families, and the health system, and can have profound and lasting consequences,” the email continues. “Patients presenting for time-sensitive care, including abortion care, need timely access to treatment, even during this pandemic.”

These so-called “consequences,” “burdens” are not health problems. They are children – unique, living human beings who deserve a right to life.

As Chastain put it: “DO NOT EVER say that abortion is part of pregnancy care. Abortion is infanticide. It makes me sick that these people consider it ‘care’ when the end result of abortion is a dead human being.”

Tens of thousands of people are sick and dying across the world from the coronavirus, and much of American society is shutting down to prevent further spread. But in the midst of all this chaos, abortion activists are worried about continuing the killing of unborn babies.
