Sen. Ben Sasse urged the Department of Justice to investigate the website Pornhub after it was linked to the sex trafficking of a 15-year-old girl and a forced abortion.

In a letter to Attorney General William Barr this week, Sasse said the young girl was raped repeatedly and forced to abort her unborn baby before authorities rescued her last fall. Videos of her also were posted on Pornhub before she was found, he said.

A pro-life Republican from Nebraska, Sasse said evidence suggests the incident may be “just the tip of the iceberg of women and children being exploited in videos” on the website. He urged Barr to investigate.

According to Faith Wire: “Additionally, there was recently a case involving 22 women who were lured and coerced by pornographer Michael Pratt — now a wanted fugitive — into performing various sexual acts for videos that were then uploaded to Pornhub without consent. The pornographic site has failed to take concrete actions to rid its database of Pratt’s videos, which were originally uploaded under the name ‘Girls Do Porn.’”

The pornography industry, sex trafficking and abortion often are closely linked. Women and girls frequently are exploited and abused and then forced or coerced into aborting their unborn babies to cover up the abuse. Abortion facilities often ignore these abuses, perform the abortions and then send the victims back to their abusers without alerting authorities.

In October, The Sun Sentinel reported more about the abuse of the 15-year-old girl. Florida police said they found her and her alleged abuser, Christopher Johnson, 30, of Davie, Florida, after the girl’s mother found pornographic images of her daughter online.

The girl has been missing since November 2018, according to the Mirror. Police said they received several calls about her being spotted with a man, allegedly Johnson, at a convenience store, but they were not able to track them down until October 2019.

Allegedly, Johnson forced the girl to abort her unborn baby after she became pregnant by his alleged abuse.

“The victim stated that she got pregnant from the defendant and he took her to the clinic to have an abortion,” police detective Adam Granit said, the Daily Star reports.

Police said they found paperwork from an abortion facility in Johnson’s apartment. It is not clear if the abortion facility, which is not named in reports, alerted authorities about the suspected abuse of the young girl.

The abortion industry has a history of failing to protect abuse victims. Last spring, Louisiana pro-life advocates urged state authorities to investigate the Bossier City Medical Suite abortion facility after discovering evidence that it may have failed to report the rape of an underage girl.

Evidence of similar failures has been documented at abortion facilities in AlabamaKansasIndianaOhio and other states. A report Alliance Defending Freedom documented multiple instances of Planned Parenthood performing abortions on sexually abused minors and failing to report the abuse to authorities as required by law.

Sasse’s efforts demonstrate how pro-life advocates are working to protect both born and unborn human beings from abuse.

He said Pornhub is the thirty-fourth most popular website visited in United States, and there likely are many more abuses going on there.

PayPal decided to stop processing payments from the site in November, and credit card companies are being urged to do the same, according to Faith Wire.

Terry Schilling, executive director at American Principles Project, thanked the senator for taking action to protect women and girls from abuse.

“There can be no denying it: the recent explosion of online pornography has enacted a terrible toll on American society. Of course, the disastrous impact of pornography use on public health is well-documented. But even worse has been the porn industry’s horrific exploitation of women and children, both directly and indirectly, for its own financial gain. And all too often, those in power have been content to look the other way rather than confront this growing crisis,” Schilling said. “Thankfully, however, there are still some courageous enough to take on this fight.”
