Pro-Abortion Mayor Pete Buttigieg Drops Out of Democrat Presidential Race

Pete Buttigieg, the pro-abortion mayor from Indiana, has ended his presidential campaign today just weeks after he finished in first place in the Iowa caucus. Buttigieg did not get the bounce he was hoping for after performing well in both Iowa and New Hampshire and he dropped to the middle of the pack in South Carolina.

Polling in the upcoming Democrat battleground states showed him having a hard time competing against Joe Biden, who won the South Carolina primary yesterday and saw a sudden resurgence in his campaign, Bernie Sanders, who won in New Hampshire and Nevada and who has leads in some of the upcoming states, and Mike Bloomberg, who has bought his way into relevancy.

Buttigieg struggled to secure support from minority voters after some controversial comments and he was constantly under attack after cresting in Iowa, damaging his polling numbers.

On abortion, Buttigieig frequently came under fire from pro-life advocates after he repeatedly falsely claimed Biblical scripture supports abortion and essentially said Christians should not support President Donald Trump.

Buttigieg definitely needs some basic Biblical education as he has repeatedly insisted that he can be a Christian and support abortion on demand. He has repeatedly tried to justify his stance by claiming the Bible associates “the beginning of life with breath.”

Buttigieg said he believes the Bible does not recognize the beginning of life until the first breath is taken.

“There’s so many parts of the Bible that associate the beginning of life with breath,” he said, reiterating a similar statement he made in September.

At the time, he told “The Breakfast Club” that abortion “is obviously a tough issue for a lot of people to think through morally. Then again, there’s a lot of parts of the Bible that talk about how life begins with breath, and so even that is something that we can interpret differently.”

Buttigieg’s biblical justification for abortion has been called out as absurd by his own family and many others. Even in ancient times, babies in the womb were viewed as valuable, as is evident in Luke 1:41. Jesus placed great value on children when others in society did not in Matthew 19:14, and Proverbs 6:16-17 states that one of the things God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood. One of the ten commandments prohibits murder.

The Daily Wire also noticed Buttigieg’s Biblical misunderstanding:

Buttigieg, who is openly gay, has advocated for abortion up until the moment of birth. Earlier this month, while appearing on “The View,” the Democrat refused to denounce the murder of the unborn post-birth, or infanticide.

President Donald Trump, on the other hand, has continuously supported the pro-life movement, which is highly important to Christians across the nation. For example, Trump was the first president to deliver in-person remarks at the annual pro-life March for Life.

Moreover, as outlined by Russ Vought in a Daily Wire op-ed, Trump has supported the pro-life cause in other ways, like reinstating and expanding the Mexico City Policy and prohibiting Title X grantees from referring patients for elective abortions:

A host of Bible verses make it clear that the Bible, and the Lord God, value life in the womb.

Buttigieg is no moderate on abortion. As mayor of South Bend, he tried to stop a pregnancy resource center from opening down the street from an abortion facility. Then, earlier this year, he celebrated when an abortion chain that amassed dozens of health and safety violations opened a new location there.

In May, when asked about abortions in the third trimester, Buttigieg said he thinks they should be legal and unrestricted.
