VP Mike Pence: President Trump Has Been “The Most Pro-Life President in American History”

Since his first days in office, President Donald Trump has done everything in his power to prevent taxpayers fro having to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

In one of his first acts as president, Trump reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, which prohibits taxpayer funding to groups that promote or provide abortions overseas. The change defunded Planned Parenthood’s international arm of about $100 million in U.S. tax dollars.

And he has worked overtime to cut as much domestic taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood as possible through changes in federal rules in programs Planned Parenthood seeks taxpaying funding through and by helping states to defund the abortion corporation.

But the one thing President Trump has no control over is the Medicaid program where the Planned Parenthood abortion chain receives the lion’s share of its taxpayer dollars. Congress must approve a budget that domestically defunds Planned Parenthood and get it to President Trump’s desk to sign.

That last, and biggest step, is something Vice President Mike Pence, in a new interview, said President Trump will pursue in a second term as president — saying he would “continue on that march.”

In the interview with the Daily Caller, Pence lauded President trump for compiling a strong pro-life record thus far.

“I will tell you, it has been the greatest honor in my life to serve as Vice President to the most pro-life president in American history. I mean, from the first day of this administration, President Trump has been keeping his word to stand for the right to life. We reinstituted the Mexico City policy to make sure no taxpayer funding would go to organizations that provide or promote abortion around the world. And we expanded the Mexico City policy far beyond anything that had ever been,” he said.

“And the president, of course, just spoke to the march for life. He’s appointed strong strict constructionists to our courts at every level. But with regard to Planned Parenthood, remember I had the privilege of casting the tie-breaking vote right on a bill in the Senate that allows every state to defund Planned Parenthood. And President Donald Trump signed it. And we made the kind of changes in federal policy that have excluded Planned Parenthood from federal funding. So we’ll continue on that march,” Pence added.

He told the Daily Caller: “And I believe the day will come in our lifetime when we’ll see Roe vs. Wade sent to the ash heap of history and we’ll put the sanctity of life back at the center of American law, and President Donald Trump will have written an important, important chapter in that story.”

Despite Democrats standing in the way of defunding Planned Parenthood, President Trump has submitted a budget that does just that. The Fiscal Year 2021 plan from the White House would zero out its funding as we ll as require protecting the conscience rights of pro-life medical professionals.

“The Budget prioritizes the value of human life by ensuring that Federal funding does not support abortions,” the White House noted. “The Budget proposes to prohibit Federal funding, such as in the Title X Family Planning and Medicaid programs, for certain entities that provide abortion services. The Budget also protects conscience rights, prohibits coercion in healthcare, and allows private parties to enforce such rights in Federal court. With these protections, the Administration will continue to ensure robust protection of conscience rights and religious liberty.”

Trump has previously asked Congress to give him a budget that defunds Planned Parenthood but the votes have never been present to pass it. The Senate has the votes now but pro-life Americans must replace Nancy Pelosi this November with a pro-life House that can approve it.

President Trump has compiled a strong pro-life record as president.

Trump thrilled pro-life Americans with his announcement that he will become the first president in history to attend the March for Life. Trump will address the March for Life on Friday in live remarks to hundreds of thousands of pro-life people attending the event from across the country. He will be the first president ever to attend the March for Life in person, having addressed the March via video previously.

Trump has repeatedly called out the Democratic Party’s extreme position on abortion. During his state of the union address this year, Trump slammed the governors of New York and Virginia for promoting abortion up to birth and infanticide. He also called for Congress to pass a ban on late-term abortions on babies who are capable of feeling pain.

Trump and his administration have made a number of changes to protect those who morally object to abortions, expanding conscience protections for medical workers who believe it is wrong to kill an unborn baby and increasing religious exemptions for Obamacare.

His administration also intervened to stop the United Nations from supporting abortion in a resolution about sexual violence. In 2018, under his leadership, the State Department removed references to the so-called “right” to abort an unborn baby from a global human rights report as well.

Trump has appointed dozens of conservative judges to federal courts as well, including two to the U.S. Supreme Court.
