Catholic priests across the world are taking a stand against so-called Catholic politicians who support the legalized killing of unborn babies in abortions.
Recently in Ireland, a Catholic priest refused to allow the pro-abortion party Sinn Féin to rent his church hall in Coalisland, Co. Tyrone, for a meeting, The Irish Catholic reports.
The Rev. Eugene O’Neill said the church rents its St Patrick’s Hall to various groups, and he initially did not know that pro-abortion Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill had requested it for a meeting.
After pro-lifers made the priest aware, however, he said he told O’Neill that she would have to have the event somewhere else. His reason was because of her and her party’s pro-abortion stance.
Irish pro-life leader Bernadette Smyth of Precious Life thanked the priest for taking a stand for life, according to the report.
“Fr Eugene has stood up for the faithful and strongly reaffirmed Church teaching,” she said. “We would like to thank him for taking a strong stand for life, Coalisland Parish for their firm pro-life stance and to everyone who raised initial concerns.”
In 2018, Sinn Féin leaders pushed Ireland to abandon its pro-life Eighth Amendment and end the right to life for unborn babies. It even kicked out some of its own party members for voting against abortion.
Abortions became legal in Ireland in 2019. Unborn babies may be aborted for any reason up to 12 weeks and up to six months in a wide variety of circumstances, often at taxpayers’ expense. It is not yet known how many unborn babies were aborted in the country last year.

The Catholic Church teaches that human beings are valuable people, made in the image of God, and abortion, euthanasia and other life-destroying practices are a grave moral evil.
Some Catholic politicians, however, have strayed far from this teaching and openly embrace abortion on demand. In America recently, former vice president Joe Biden was denied communion by a South Carolina priest because of his pro-abortion stance.
