Newly acquired 911 records show that an ambulance was called to the Flossmoor Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Flossmoor, Illinois, on November 12, 2019, to assist with and transport a woman who was hemorrhaging.

The heavily redacted 911 recordings and Computer Aided Dispatch transcript (CAD), were provided to Operation Rescue by the Pro-Life Action League, located in Chicago, Illinois.

The call was placed though a Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) to call the Intrado Emergency Call Relay Center, which, in turn, placed the call to the 911 exchange.  It took a minute and a half for the call relay center to patch the actual Planned Parenthood caller through to the 911 operator – time that could have been saved it Planned Parenthood had used a traditional land line or cell phone to make the call.

Once the 911 operator was connected to the Planned Parenthood employee, she attempted to gather additional information, and was surprised to learn that the hemorrhaging patient had just undergone an abortion.

911: How far along is the patient?

PP:  Uh, she’s no longer pregnant.

911: Oh! Oh, okay.

This was the second medical emergency at the Flossmoor Planned Parenthood.  On December 14, 2018, another abortion patient uncontrolled hemorrhage that resulted in emergency transport to a local hospital emergency room.

According to data collected by Operation Rescue, which has documented hundreds of medical emergencies at abortion facilities nationwide, hemorrhaging is by far the most common abortion complication reported during these incidents.  The hemorrhaging can be caused by a number of factors, including an incomplete abortion, lacerations, uterine perforations, and internal injury cause by uterine perforations.

Hemorrhages are life-threatening medical emergencies that have resulted in the deaths of abortion patients, including Tonya Reaves, a Chicago Planned Parenthood patient who died in 2012; Lakisha Wilson and Tia Parks, who received their fatal abortions at Preterm in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2014 and 2019 respectively; Cree Erwin, who suffered a perforated uterus at the Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood in 2016; and Jaime Lee Morales, who died in 2016 from horrific abortion injuries that caused her to bleed out. Her abortionist, Robert Rho, is currently serving a state prison term after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide in Morales’ death.

“Despite the fact that hemorrhaging is an expected and common complication to abortions, Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities remain completely incapable of handling this emergency when it arises,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.  “They depend on city or county resources to bail them out of trouble and save the lives of these ladies.  It’s disgraceful that abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood continue to endanger the lives of women at ill-equipped outpatient clinics that cannot handle even the most expected complication.”

Planned Parenthood’s 11,470-square-foot Flossmoor facility was opened in an existing single-story brick building in January 2018, which was renovated at the cost of $3 million.

“Abortion is not safe.  I don’t care how many millions of dollars Planned Parenthood spends on their clinics.  They still pose serious, life-threatening dangers to women, not just in Flossmoor, but all over the nation.  This shows a callous disregard for the lives of women along with their pre-born babies.”

Last week, Operation Rescue released a compilation video with information about 100 medical emergencies that took place at abortion facilities across America in 2019.  The records for the Flossmoor Planned Parenthood incident came too late to be included in that video.
