Amy Klobuchar Wants Federal Law for Abortions Up to Birth, Force Americans to Fund Killing Babies

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar would work to make abortion an “American right” if elected to the highest office of the United States.

A Democrat presidential candidate, Klobuchar recently spoke with Cosmopolitan about her political agenda and her hopes if she wins.

Among them is a plan to force Americans to fund the abortion industry and keep the killing of unborn babies legal for basically any reason up to birth.

Asked about “reproductive freedom” as an “American right,” Klobuchar told the magazine that abortion is a big priority for her.

“Codifying Roe v. Wade, which a number of the other candidates share, is probably the number one thing we could do so that if a court starts to mess around with it, it is in law,” she said.

Klobuchar said she also would start appointing pro-abortion judges “immediately” who would uphold Roe v. Wade. The 1973 decision made the U.S. one of only seven countries in the world to allow elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Since the case was handed down, more than 61 million unborn babies have been aborted.

If elected, Klobuchar would force taxpayers to fund the billion-dollar abortion industry, too.

President Donald Trump defunded Planned Parenthood of about $60 million under a new Title X rule. His Mexico City Policy, which prohibits taxpayer funding to international aid groups that promote or perform abortions, also defunded the International Planned Parenthood Federation of $100 million and the British-based abortion chain Marie Stopes International of an additional $73 million.

Klobuchar referred to the regulations as “domestic and international gag rules” and promised to get rid of them.

“One thing that’s so important right now is funding Planned Parenthood. This president has reversed that, and that’s something I could change immediately,” she told the magazine.

Klobuchar said she does not want voters to pick her just because she would be the first female president; she wants them to choose her because of her ideas.

“Yes, I would be the first woman president, but I don’t think that’s the reason to vote for me, actually. I think the reason is that I have people’s backs,” she said. “I want to have a big victory for our country so that we’re actually able to move on these issues that your readers care about. Climate change and health care … and reproductive rights.”

Klobuchar has an extreme pro-abortion voting record that is out of touch with most voters. Earlier this year, pro-life students protested Klobuchar in the bitter cold after she voted against a bill to protect newborns from infanticide. Every Democrat in the Senate who is running for president voted against the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

A June Gallup poll found that 60 percent of Americans want all (21 percent) or almost all (39 percent) abortions made illegal. In contrast, 38 percent said they want all (25 percent) or almost all (13 percent) abortions legal.

Similarly, a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that just 6 percent of Americans said abortions should be allowed “up until the birth of the child.”
