Pro-Abortion Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Compares Childbirth to Dog Breeding

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez compared having children to breeding dogs in a bizarre pitch for longer paid maternity leave, claiming that society treats dogs and puppies better than human mothers and their babies.

Now, if she were speaking on the treatment of puppies versus unborn human babies who are systematically poisoned and dismembered in thousands of abortion clinics across the country, I’d be inclined to agree with her. But that’s not the point she was making – or was, at least, trying to.

“Do we know how long puppies are allowed to stay with their mothers after a dog has given birth? Eight weeks,” Ocasio-Cortez ranted during a congressional hearing Tuesday. “So, the market has decided that women and people who give birth deserve less time with their children than a dog. And I think that that, at its core, has shown that the market has failed to treat people with dignity and with basic respect.”

“And so when that happens, I think it’s our job as the public to redefine the rules of society and to peep, and to treat people who give birth with the dignity that they deserve,” she went on.

Over on Twitter, AOC followed up her weird analogy by saying that families should receive at least three months paid time off after having a baby, but would ideally get up to a year’s worth of leave.

Except that puppies aren’t treated better than human babies. Not by a long shot. And this weird and far-fetched contrast is less like comparing apples to apples and more like comparing apples to spaceships.

For one thing, human babies aren’t kept with their mothers for eight weeks, only to then be ripped away and sold off to new owners. They also don’t develop at a pace that allows them to thrive on their own at two months old, nor are human mothers biologically pre-programmed to turn their young loose after only a few weeks postpartum.

Also of note is the simple fact that millions of dogs aren’t employed by small businesses or stores that can’t afford to give them a year’s worth of paid time off to spend with their babies without filling the position with someone else. Or the fact that human mothers are able to return to work while still coming home to their children, as opposed to the total separation of a dog from her pups.

But the fact that this has to be explained in basic terms to AOC and her lemmings only proves once again that the bar for elected officials has sunk into the proverbial mud, and that public discourse is now less about logic and sense and more about sensational sound bites to appease the ignorant.
