Celebrated Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins almost did not get a chance at life.

Many years ago, Dobbins’ mother considered aborting him while he was growing in her womb, the Daily Wire reports. But something prompted her to choose life instead. Today, according to Fox Sports announcer Gus Johnson, she calls Dobbins her “miracle baby.”

Johnson shared the rising sports star’s story Saturday while Ohio State was playing the Michigan Wolverines, according to the report.

“J.K. Dobbins’ mom, Mya, became pregnant when she was 18 years old,” Johnson said. “She went to the doctor because she was thinking about aborting the baby, but changed her mind.”

“That baby turned out to be that young man, J.K. Dobbins, who she calls her ‘miracle baby,’” he continued.

A Heisman Trophy candidate, Dobbins achieved the No. 2 spot as all-time leader in rushing yards at Ohio State, the report states.

Here’s more:

Dobbins finished the game with “31 carries for a career-high 211 yards and four touchdowns, while adding two catches for 49 yards,” the report added.

Reacting to a post from SportsCenter detailing the record, Dobbins simply posted: “All Glory to God,” adding a praying-hands emoji.

Abortion leaves no room for miracles, no chance of success. It destroys the potential for a child to ever do anything, great or small. But when mothers choose life in difficult circumstances, as Dobbins’ mother did, the opposite is true. These loving, courageous mothers give their children an amazing gift: a chance to take on life and conquer its obstacles, a chance to grow and succeed. Every unborn baby is a life full of potential.
