Donald Trump is Winning Over Black Voters in Part Because He’s Governed Pro-Life

Democrat leaders’ increasingly radical pro-abortion agenda may prompt more black voters to support President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

While the Democratic Party is moving farther left, embracing unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortions up to birth, African American voters are becoming more moderate, Fox News contributor Liz Peek wrote this week.

Highlighting several recent polls, Peek said Democrats have good reason to worry about 2020. Polls by Emerson College, Rasmussen, Sienna College and the New York Times suggest more black voters plan to support Trump next year, according to Peek’s research.

“For decades, [Democrats] have taken the black vote for granted,” Peek wrote. “Today, there are signs that empty promises and radical leftist social policies are leaving black voters behind. Worse, polling shows that President Trump is picking up support from black voters.”

Trump’s pro-life record and Democrats’ extreme pro-abortion agenda may be one of the reasons.

Peek continued:

Research cited by the [New York] Times shows that over the past few decades, “The African American electorate has been undergoing a quiet, long-term transformation, moving from the left toward the center on several social and cultural issues.” …

Particularly on issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion, blacks do not line up with the far left. For example, while only 3 percent of white Democrats say abortion should be illegal, fully one-third of black voters say it should not be allowed.

Trump has a strong, consistent pro-life record. He repeatedly has called out Democrats for blocking a bill to protect newborn babies from infanticide and acted to defund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, of millions of taxpayer dollars. He also appointed conservative judges to courts throughout the U.S. and promised to sign a law banning late-term abortions if it reaches his desk.

In contrast, all of the Democrat presidential candidates want abortions to be legal through the third trimester, and they want to force taxpayers to pay for them.

Prominent black leaders have been speaking out in support of the president, including Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Last week, African American pro-life advocate Angela Stanton King told a Fox News panel that her biggest problem with the Democratic presidential candidates is how they are pushing abortions on black women.

“To me, personally, you don’t have my best interests in mind if the only thing you are offering me is access to abortion to kill my child before it has the chance to live, and then also free welfare,” King said.

Larry Henry, known on social media by his nickname Kingface, agreed with her, pointing to the roots of Planned Parenthood.

“If you look at it, we’ve been killing our own army for the last how many years, and that’s all because of Planned Parenthood. Who is Margaret Sanger? She actually created Planned Parenthood in order to kill off black babies,” Henry said.

Even long-time Democrat African American voters like BET founder Robert Johnson are warning Democratic leaders about their extremism. He recently told CNBC that the 2020 election is Trump’s “to lose.”

“I do not see anybody in the Democratic primary race today that is enough in the center where I believe most of the voters are, and particularly where most African Americans are,” Johnson said.

Trump is reaching out to black voters as well. In October, his campaign launched Black Voices for Trump to encourage African Americans to walk away from the Democratic Party’s radicalism.

“The Democratic Party already left you a long time ago,” Trump said during the launch. “If you don’t want liberal extremists to run your lives, then today we say welcome to the Republican Party.”

The Republican Party platform supports the right to life for babies in the womb. The Democratic Party platform supports abortion without restriction and calls for taxpayer-funded abortions through Medicaid.
