Google Caught Manipulating Algorithms to Direct Users to Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

Research by the Wall Street Journal this week found that Google appears to be manipulating its algorithms to direct people to the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

The newspaper’s findings provide more evidence of the online and news media bias that pro-life advocates have suspected for years. Huge news corporations and powerful internet companies appear to be trying to silence the pro-life message by suppressing information on their platforms.

According to the Daily Wire, the WSJ journalists found that Planned Parenthood was featured much more frequently on Google than on other search engines when they searched for the term “abortion.”

In July and August, WSJ journalists typed the word “abortion” into Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and other search engines. Comparing the organic search results on the first page, Planned Parenthood’s main website made up 39 percent of all results on Google, 14 percent on Bing and 16 percent on DuckDuckGo, the report states.

Based on its research, the WSJ concluded that Google “keeps blacklists to remove certain sites or prevent others from surfacing in certain types of results.” They also said, “Google’s engineers have created algorithms and blacklists to weed out more-incendiary suggestions for controversial subjects, such as abortion or immigration …”

Google spokesperson Lara Levin claimed otherwise, saying, “We do today what we have done all along, provide relevant results from the most reliable sources available.”

The question is who determines what a reliable source is. Planned Parenthood certainly claims to be reliable, and it has a record $1.66 billion in revenue and friends in high places to help push that message. But numerous fact checks, investigations, research and personal testimonies indicate that the abortion chain has deceived the public, time after time. The problem is that this information does not receive as much attention, and big corporations like Google may be part of the reason why.

According to the WSJ, there are about 3.8 million searches typed into Google every minute. It described Google as “the most highly trafficked website in the world, surpassing 90% of the market share for all search engines.”

“Google executives have said repeatedly—in private meetings with outside groups and in congressional testimony—that the algorithms are objective and essentially autonomous, unsullied by human biases or business considerations,” the newspaper states. Later, it noted that Google has said, “We do not use human curation to collect or arrange the results on a page.”

Its algorithms, however, do appear to have a strong pro-abortion bias. Earlier this summer, Google labeled the pro-life film “Unplanned” as propaganda in its search results. Later, the company removed the label and claimed it was a mistake.

Interestingly, just few weeks earlier, Planned Parenthood CEO Leana Wen posted a photo of herself on Twitter hobnobbing with Google executives at its headquarters in California. The abortion giant blasted the film as propaganda to a number of mainstream and liberal news sites.

In April, a Google staffer also released documents exposing a massive censorship campaign where the Google search engine purposefully censored pro-life and conservative web sites, including LifeNews.com.

Then in May, Google changed its ad rules in a way that helps abortion businesses but hurts nonprofit pregnancy centers that support women and babies.

Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube also have been accused of censoring conservative viewpoints.

For years, the pro-life group Live Action has said Twitter has been censoring its ads. Founder Lila Rose said the social media site blocked their ability to advertise and told them they would have to change information on the organization’s websites if they want to start advertising again.

In August, Facebook also censored Live Action with a heavily biased “fact check” written by two abortionists. As LifeNews reported, Facebook tagged the Live Action post as “false news” because it explained why abortion is not medically necessary. Later, the pro-life group learned that Facebook’s fact-checking mechanism relied on two abortionists, Daniel Grossman and Robyn Schickler, who obviously have their own biases about the issue.

In September, U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted during a closed-door meeting that his social media company “clearly was bias” against the pro-life group Live Action and its founder Lila Rose.
