While abortion activists are screaming loudly about pro-life laws reducing abortions, they quietly are introducing bills to wipe out basically every common sense abortion regulation in the country.
In Florida this week, Democrat Rep. Anna Eskamani, of Orlando, filed a bill to end what she claims are unnecessary politically-motivated pro-life laws in Florida, WTSP 10 News reports. Eskamani is a former employee of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the U.S.
State House Bill 6074 would eliminate certain state limits on taxpayer funding for abortion groups, an abortion clinic inspection regulation that requires inspectors to check patient records and a 24-hour waiting period.
“More and more attacks are coming our way, and it’s important that we don’t just surrender,” Eskamani said. “Winning is not measured by passing a bill. It’s measured by how hard we fight.”
Eskamani said the 24-hour waiting period between informed consent and the abortion procedure puts an unnecessary hardship on women. She also claimed abortion clinics are more heavily regulated than other health facilities, though pro-life advocates say the opposite is true.

Her bill is one of many attempts by Democrat lawmakers to end the modest abortion regulations and restrictions that pro-life lawmakers have fought hard to pass. Massachusetts and Michigan lawmakers currently are considering bills that could legalize the killing of unborn babies for basically any reason up to birth. Still others are trying to eliminate parental involvement laws that require an underage girl to obtain her parent’s permission or notify the parent prior to having an abortion.
New York, Illinois, Rhode Island and Vermont passed pro-abortion laws earlier this year that strip away basically all legal protections for unborn babies.
Though Democratic leaders are embracing an increasingly extreme position on abortion, most Americans are not. A recent Gallup poll found that 60 percent of Americans want abortion legal “only in a few circumstances” (39 percent) or “illegal in all circumstances” (21 percent).
The U.S. is one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, a fact confirmed by the left-leaning Washington Post.
